~Spirit of Hope~

With the Covenant vessel grounded, the UNSC personnel were charged with eliminating any stragglers or bringing them in. One of those beings was the Prophet these Covenant followed. Officer 'Multi' Angela made her way through the prison cells as she looked down her list. She stopped at the last one and turned to see the Prophet sitting on the bench, he held a calm expression as she sized him up.

"Come to gawk have you?" He asked before turning to face the officer. "Perhaps, or to wonder why an alien race we have had no quarrel with decided to kill all of humanity?" She asked.

"You humans are a stain on the fabric of time and reality. You have over stayed your welcome, we are the god's instrument for your eradication." He replied.

"Hm, if we are such an affront to your gods, then why don't they kill us instead?" She asked with a smirk.

"Gods must be strong for those who walk the path." The Prophet said. "Your 'Great Journey' is nothing more than a death sentence. Do you know what those Rings are actually for? They are used to kill me, you, and every thinking creature in the galaxy to halt the spread of Flood. You remember them, don't ya? You know, the ones who murdered your buddies Regret, Mercy, and Truth. I guess we we're just lucky we have the Arbiter and Chief to stop you. Children is what you are, nothing more, nothing less." Angela said.

"The Arbiter is a traitor, and your Demon cannot protect you. Just like he couldn't protect his evolved ancilla 'Cortana'." The Prophet said, a hint of amusement in his voice.

"And now, she seeks to treat us all as children. You were nothing more than Creators for them. They are the true entites that shall lead us on the path to salvation." He continued before relaxing and looking at the wall. Officer Angela glared before a throat cleared. She turned to see Sergeant Josh looking at her.

"Sorry sir, just keeping the prisoner company was all." She said. Josh nodded before walking over to her and grabbing her arm as he led her out of the prisoner room.

"What the hell is your problem marine?" He demanded. "Nothing sir." She lied. "Something is wrong, now spill it." Josh replied. Angela sighed before turning around.

"I wanted to kill that, that thing. He and his whole Journey are the reason I joined with the UNSC." She said turning to Josh.

"They took someone from you." He replied. "During the attack on New Harmony, the only survivors we're two kids from Corbulo Academy. The parents never even stood a chance." Angela said sighing as tears threatened to fall.

"I'm sorry Multi, but you need to keep your emotions in check. Trust me, you aren't the only one to lose family." He said hugging her before turning and leaving. The officer leaned against the wall and stared out the window as the giant blue marble shone in all her beautiful glare.

The Lieutenant stood on the bridge as he watched the stars roll by, Hera busy with technical stuff, and his squad taking in the respite.

"You can relax Lieutenant." The Captain said walking next to him. "Apologies, sir. I guess I just get the feeling, something isn't right. Overwatch, how could they have fallen so fast under our noses?" He wondered.

"Why, did you fancy one of the women there?" Charles asked with a smirk. Jason scoffed.

"No, but I am curious about how their base and them as a group fell. I've been keeping tabs on the ex-agents. Reinhardt left for Eichenwalde, Cadet Oxton in King's Row, Torbjorn returned to his old engineer friends, Captain Amari, is dead, so isn't Gerard LaCroix and his wife is missing. Commander Morrison is gone as well as Gabriel Reyes. Dr. Ziegler left for Switzerland as Genji Shimada left for the Shambali Monks. Jesse McCree is gone and communications with Ms. Ling-Zhou have ceased. I don't know sir, it seems as if it's been one problem after another." Jason said.
