Taehyung and Hoseok worked really hard all morning and now they finally could take a break. The two boys sat down at a table to drink something. Hoseok was drinking a coffee, in which he poured more sugar than liquid and Taehyung got himself a normal glass of water. A thing that alarmed the younger was that the other boy wasn't texting anyone like he usually did. He wasn't even updating his twitter.
"Is there something wrong?" Taehyung asked.
"I was just thinking..." Hoseok said mindlessly. He was staring somewhere in the distance.
"Thinking? About what?"
"A very beautiful person that came here today." He replied. He turned to look at his friend.
"Who? Maybe I can help you about it." Taehyung said. He took a sip of water. It was so cold he thought it was going to freeze his soul.
"I don't even know his name."
"That's a very good start. Congratulations, my dear." The younger said sarcastically, clapping his hands. "Can you describe him? If it's a costumer that comes here often, I'll know him for sure."
"Today he was wearing all black. He had mint hair, is a bit short and looked like he hasn't slept in two days."
"I don't know how to help you about that." He said as he went to the counter to clean up a bit. Taehyung knew exactly who the person Hoseok was talking about is. One of his friends keeps talking about the mint-haired boy when he comes to buy Matcha Latte. He decided not to say anything because he was afraid of hurting the other.
Yoongi was planting some seeds of geranium into the big flower pots. He hated that part of his job, mostly because he had to carry big bags of humus. If Namjoon did that instead, they'll have to clean up a gigantic mess. Namjoon was helping him by carrying the vases around. They were listening to music: it was Namjoon's Lana Del Rey phase, and Yoongi did not want to question why. They were not talking at all. It's not like Namjoon could usually have a really meaningful conversation with the older boy, but at least Yoongi would complain about the sunny weather and about how he hasn't slept for days. Namjoon was chewing on his aloe bubblegum.
"Is he cute?" Namjoon asked softly. "I mean, the new waiter."
"Go and see for yourself. You always say beauty is subjective, or something like that..." Yoongi said. He got reminded of the new waiter. Well, he was kind of cute but that sweater was ridiculous. The conversation ended like that, even though Namjoon wanted to talk more about it.
The flower shop closed at 4pm. Namjoon was counting all the money they made that day and Yoongi was in the back of the store. His conscience was telling him he should give the waiter a sign of gratitude for his kind act. That was exactly what he was going to do. He opened the book where he kept his pressed flowers. Yoongi smiled when he found what he was searching for. It was a wild tansy. He put it in an envelope and left a small handwritten message 'Thanks. - The mint haired boy'.
"Namjoon! Can you drop this to the coffee shop? It's for the new waiter, the one with the obnoxious rainbow sweater." He said as he gave the envelope to the other boy.
"O-okay. What's inside, anyway?" Namjoon asked.
"A pressed flower." Yoongi answered while admiring the cactuses. He grew attached to them way too much. The one with blue flowers was his favorite one.
"Nice." Namjoon said. He would say nice every time he didn't know what to say.
Taehyung and Hoseok didn't have too much work in the afternoon so they were chilling a bit. Their shift was almost over. They were talking about dramas and anime, and things they were interested in, in general. Namjoon entered the coffee. He didn't know exactly how to say it, but he wasn't doing this for himself. The thought of this made him even more nervous. Taehyung noticed him and came closer.
"Would you like something to drink?" Taehyung asked, smiling.
"No, sadly I have some other things to do. I just came to give you this. It's for the new waiter with the, I'm quoting, obnoxious rainbow sweater. From Yoongi." Namjoon said, giving the envelope to the other.
"Okay. I'll give it to him. Have a nice day." Taehyung said. He was a bit offended because of the sweater thing. It was Gucci.
"Tell him that if he wants to talk to him, he can drop by the flower shop! Bye!" He said as he left the coffee shop.
Taehyung walked happily towards Hoseok. He hid the envelope behind his back. All of his friend's possible reactions about it flashed in front of his eyes. His dear Hobi could faint, cry because of happiness or have a heart attack. In the worst case scenario, he could scream like he was being murdered. Hoseok was peacefully taking pictures of himself. Taehyung took a deep breath.
"I have something for you. I'll give it to you if you promise me you won't overreact." Taehyung said very calmly.
"I swear on my life." Hoseok said smiling happily. He tried to look as solemn as he could, but he couldn't help but laugh at his own actions.
"Whatever, Hobi... Take it." He said. He put the envelope on the table and sat down.
Hoseok hesitated at first. He was patiently searching for a name. On the outside, there was no hint, not even a name or an address. He opened it, as carefully as his impatience allowed him to. There was a pressed flower, which he didn't care about too much, and a handwritten note. It wasn't anything special; just a thanks, followed by the mint-haired boy, what Hoseok supposed was the sender. The mint haired boy... Hoseok almost had a heart attack. He couldn't believe it.
"I-Is this the mint-haired boy I think it is?" Hoseok asked, still shocked.
"I think it is. His friend came and gave me this. He told me you could come at the flower shop if you want to talk with him." Taehyung said.
"Oh... Wait a second. You know him???" Hoseok said.
"No. I know his co-worker, Namjoon."
Yoongi went home after another day of work and was very tired. He took a 15 minutes long shower. He felt somehow offended when his mint hair stained the towel. He put on some clothes and lied on the bed. He really wanted to smoke a cigarette, but one of the few things that made him feel in control of his own life was smoking exclusively one cigarette per day. He got up from the bed and went to the kitchen. There was a pizza box with some leftovers from yesterday's dinner. He put the pizza in the microwave and waited. A more accurate term instead of leftover would be half of it. He didn't eat much and that was the main reason he was so skinny. Namjoon would force him to eat a whole one when they go to eat together. Yoongi got annoyed because of it, but he always understood his friend was doing that because he cared of his well being. Sometimes Yoongi wondered what would happen if Namjoon would forsake him. The pizza was warm now, so it was a bit less disgusting. He sat on the couch in front of the TV and started searching for something decent to watch. He decided to watch 'Law & Order'. He already saw all episodes, but it was still better than watching 'Pretty Woman' or any other romance drama. He was silently watching and eating the pizza slowly. He wasn't rushing anywhere because nobody was expecting him to be somewhere. He heard his phone ring. Yoongi slowly went to the bedroom. It was Namjoon's daily text. Yoongi opened it so the 'viewed at...' writing would appear and went back to the living room. Someone who doesn't know him would say he behaves like a zombie, but it's not like Yoongi ever cared about people's opinion. He took another slice of pizza. He was well aware this was going to be one of his sleepless nights.
Hoseok went home. He was happy. His first day at work went smoothly and his new crush noticed him. Taehyung told him that the beautiful boy worked at the flower shop that's literally two steps away from the coffee shop he works at. He decided that the best way to get somewhat closer to him was buying flowers from his shop. He felt like his heart got stabbed at the thought of spending the money he would usually spend on phone bills for buying flowers. He sighed. He made some tea and poured five spoons of sugar. He sat on the floor with his laptop. Hoseok searched for flower meanings and took a sip of the overly sweet tea. He wondered if telling him that he was gay for him right away was the right thing to do.
