now it also depends what type of Mary sue it is
there's
1. the perfect character that has everyone falling for them (usual)
2. the one that has flaws but the writer is constantly justifying them (justifier)
or
3. the one with an extremely edgy backstory and dark tones of theme (EDGE)
now I'm gonna go with edge because it is the one I see most often

an edgy mary-sue is a character portrayed as being perfect and usually without any flaws and when powers come into play, are extremely overpowered or in short terms, OP

I hate it because they brush over such touchy subjects. I'm alright with self-harm, abuse, etc in Oc's backstories but only when they actually go into depth and emotion about them. If they research the topic then use it that's what keeps your character from being called edgy. It just really annoys me when people treat stuff like this so lazily and like it's just an average everyday thing. i also hate people just randomly saying that part at the end. what does that have to do with this?
there's also the point with the whole "Characters shouldn't Murder or Rape or both" but that's a whole other topic for a different rant
