i was reading something the other day about neurology and how, by age 16(or puberty) our brains essentially stops making new neuro connections . its called 'neurol adaptation' it gose on to say essentially, everything that makes us who we are. If we haven't developed a certain types of ideology , by puberty we may never be able to change our own minds or our personalitys And so we settle into who we've become or what life has made us into. Where do u think the old saying " cant teach an old dog new tricks comes from" and as a result we wonder why its so hard to accept other cultures . . The mind is so beautiful, it should be an offence to chain it up, to subjected it to primitive ideas like judgment, racism, ignorance , Prejudice, classism , sexism . You have to understand all you're doing is essentially wrapping your mind around a Concepts that will limit your perspective. A judgmental mentality will not accept that it can be wrong. You see when you base your beliefs and your personality off of an idea like judgment the mind will protect itself if ever someone 'challenges' or even questions its authenticity of perception it will responds as if it's under attack and to an extent it is, you would essentially be questioning the very foundation of Someones belief system. The mind isn't going to let that happen it will fight tooth and nail to ensure its foundation stays whole because that Foundation is attached to a belief system and that belief system makes you who you are. And it will close itself off to the possibility of ever being open to critique , which then makes it less susceptible to being vulnerable and vulnerability is key, unfortunately for most of us. The momentwe open up and make oureslves vulnerable, someone breaks our heart and so we lock that door and throw away the key. Vowing to never be hurt again. But i believe vulnerability is vital for change and growth. Only through vulnerability are we open to the possibility of new direction Only through vulnerability do we express our truest and deepest thoughts
