It was Thursday when he asked me. I had one more period after reading class, it was history. History is incredibly boring, but I am acing the class, so it seems I am doing something right. I sat through the boring class anticipating Friday. I went home as per usual, and my brother was home. He is 16, and his name is Mason Jackston Amster. I love him, and he really isn't that bad. I did all my normal things before settling in my loft bed with my cats Sookie and Milo. I texted Brendan:
Brendan- Hi. Are you excited? I'm nervous.
Me- Lol. Yea, but I'm chill, no need to stress.
Brendan- Yea I guess
We talked like this for 45 minutes before we both went to bed. I went to sleep around 10:00 PM. I woke up at 7:00 AM and was ready by 7:20. School starts at 8:00. I didn't want to tell my parents it was a 'date' (wait is it a date? He didn't say it was date. I think he meant it as a date. Anyway), and he is my reading partner, i told my mom "Brendan and I are studying after school. Just studying nothing else. Whole lot of studying." I said. Yeah, it's safe to say I was nervous, and almost blew it, but mom bought it. I did my normal school routine:
1. Biology
2.Band/orchestra (violin)
3. Language arts
4. French class
5. LUNCH!
6. Math
7. More Math
8. Reading/English
9. History
Then finally, the last bell rung. I got up and went to the study lounge. Brendan came and sat by me. We had a bland conversation, before we got up. Brendan is 15, and he already can drive, and he bought himself a car. He worked at the animal shelter all summer, and still works their on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays after school. We are in 8th grade, and have known each other since 3rd grade. He has a used blue jeep wrangler. He keeps it closed off mostly, and I don't mind. He got it for cheap from his 26 year old brother, Chad. He opened the door for me, and I got in. He got in the driver's seat. I laughed at his manners. I'd known him since we were like 10, and he was so... I don't know little. He had manners, but not for me. He looked confused, and he asked "What's funny? Did I do something wrong?". I laughed again, "No. It's just, you have manners now, and when I met you, you were so small. You teased me and stuff. But now, you're grown up." I said. "Oh. Well, I mean, same for you. You know when we met..." He said, but then he trailed off. "Now that I think about it actually, you haven't changed all that much." He said. "I guess not." I said. "Have I really changed?" He asked. "Yes, a lot. But in the best way." I said. He drove, but it was only about a 5 minute drive.
