Waves crash along the island shore
Of a beach long forgotten
Hidden deep within the sands
Are the ocean's memories
Sirens sing across the water
Warn of land that's harsh and torn
Cold is the air
Rough are the rocks
Grey are the skies that paint the morn
Then the clouds begin to part
In some masterful work of art
Brilliant is the light
That shines on through
On a sorrowful world
On me and on you
Waves crash up against my skin
Soaking deep the bones within
Can I escape the waves that come?
Can I escape the world I'm from?
One day my life will cease
And all that's left is resting peace
Waves will come and waves will go
They wash up along the shore
I am one grain of sand
That's waiting silent on the land
