Journey To The Realm

Chapter 1

The paths lit up brightly in the crystal clear light of the moon. The air around the kingdom was faintly scented of a bubblegum tree, a rare tree which was once in history an extinct plant life known to bring peace and harmony to all life forms existing around it. Excited murmurs of the citizens were heard for miles in the air. The people of the kingdom were gathered around the castle as their King had an important yet incredibly shocking news to announce. A teenage orphan girl struggled her way to the front as trumpets began to play and the King marched along with his well armoured guards to the royally prepared stage.

" Long live King Toby! Long live King Toby!  " The citizens began to chant as King Toby made his way to the middle of the stage. The girl studied the King with a glint of respect in her eyes. King Toby was averagely tall and well built. He was no older than 26 and looked extremely attractive with his pale curly blonde hair and sad looking eyes. He was extremely pale and had a very caring personality according to every citizen in the kingdom. King Toby raised his blue gloved hand to silent everyone. As he did, a sudden hush fell over the entire area. Complete silence.

" My dearest citizens, it is with great honour I welcome you all here today. " He spoke in his deep and well refined voice, almost magical to everyone surrounding the stage.
" I called you all upon my grounds as I have an important announcement. An announcement which is capable of shocking each one of you. " King Toby gazed around the crowds, his eyes boring into each one of the citizens.
" Before I get to the news, I wish to ask, how many of you had heard of the word realms? " Many of the people in the crowds raised their hands.
" To those of you who do not know what a realm is, it is an existing world completely different or sometimes similar to ours which we can not see or visit without a sacrifice or a portal. " King Toby paused for a while and spotted the little teenage girl looking up at him. She seems to be interested to know more. 
" This morning, one of my most trusted scholars, Cedrick, had discovered a realm completely different from ours. He had successfully built a portal but the land of the new realm has not yet been explored. My guards and many of my scholars hesitate to go as their lives may be risked in discovering. They do not agree into going on a dangerous yet seemingly interesting adventure. "
He waved at two of his guards and they pulled a wheelbarrow with something large and obviously heavy which was covered by a cloth behind them.
" And it is why i have called you all upon here. I need a volunteer to explore this unknown realm. It may be dangerous but I assure you, I shall provide every necessary resources for your adventure. Now.. i shall reveal, the gateway to the other realm!" King Toby made the guards set the heavy object down. Excited murmurs filled the sky. King Toby pulled the cloth off the object, really difficulty as it towered above him, revealing a mossy stone portal. " This is the gateway between our realm and the newky discovered realm. So now all those who are brave enough to go on a life risking journey, join me up on my stage. "
Six teenagers joined the king on stage. The teenage girl hesitated for a while but then slowly walked up the stairs and up on to the stage.
" One more thing, " King Toby said as he counted seven people in total up on the stage. " Only the three bravest and strongest of our brave seven individuals may go on this journey. Each one of you must go through several trials and exams before heading into the world of possible danger. Its only safer that the best three contestants go on this quest. " He announced smiling slightly.
" Now, i dismiss this meeting, all of you other than our brave contestants may go home or continue whatever that you were doing. "
King Toby glanced at the contestants. " You brave adventurers, you may come with me as we have to get to know each other. You may also stay at my castle until the challenges are over and the true adventurers are selected. "

King Toby lead the seven contestants into a gigantic wing in a palace with four rooms. "  I shall assign you each to your rooms. But before you are assigned, may I ask for your names? "
" Lex " A teenager with extremely pale skin, black hair as dark as coal and eyes as dark as the night sky spoke up his name in a soft whisper.
A short but cute looking boy with chubby cheeks and tanned skin smiled widely showing practically all of his teeth. " My name is Merlin!! " He swiped his brunette hair away from his shining yellow eyes and looked around at everyone. " Lets all be friends! "
Everyone stared at Merlin and he blushed, smiling sheepishly.
The teenage boy next to Merlin had his hands in his pockets. His messy blonde hair was forever falling in his deep water like blue eyes. His skin was thoroughly tanned. From the hotness scale from one to ten, he was definetly a ten." Yo, Lancis is my name. Just so you know ladies, im available. " Lancis said winking at the girls. All but one fell under his love spell.
The teenage girl from the beginning swept her long wavy black hair from her right shoulder to her left shoulder. She had dull grey eyes disguised by a small smile. Her skin was amazingly pale making her lips appear a soft pink in a cute way. She was really thin and fragile looking. " I am Janice " She said avoiding eye contact with everyone in the room.
Janice backed away into a dark corner and let the shadows consume her.
" My name is Plain and its very nice to meet you all. " A brunette girl with shining green eyes said. She was really short and looked like one of those dolls. But the surprising thing is, her name really represents her.
" Call me Kayla. " a sweet voice belonging to an adorable girl said. Her peach blonde hair was braided and her skin colour was slightly paler than her hair. Her eyes were pastel blue and she had a sweet smile plastered over her face.
The last challenger, a guy taller than the rest of the teenagers, had amazingly pure blonde hair with dark purple eyes filled with mysteries. " You may call me Arthur " he replied, glancing over at Janice and slowly pulling up his hood.
" Its a pleasure meeting you all " King Toby replied. " Now its time to assign you pair by pair to your rooms. " King Toby wrote down something in his notebook and called out the pairs and their assigned room.
" Lancis and Merlin in Room 1. Plain and Kayla in Room 2. Lex in room 3. Finally in Room 4, Arthur and Janice. " King Toby called out.
" Aw man, I wanted to be assigned with one of them ladies.. " Lancis whispered to himself sighing
" We shall start the trials tomorrow so i suggest you all get some rest " Kind Toby suggested.
" Understood your majesty " everyone said other than Janice who was still in her corner. As everyone strolled into their rooms, Janice sighed and followed Arthur into their assigned room.

Um ya.. i know.. its sorta weird at the minute but trust me.. it will get better..
Well, ya, i will try to post the next chapter as soon as possible.. tell me how i can improve my writing and i would try to improve as much as possible.
