Chapter IV

I ran upstairs to get dressed in something less distasteful and more appealing. No… Of course I am not trying to impress Andrew. But I don’t want him to think that I’ve turned into some sort of scrub. That’s the last type of impression I want to rub off on him. I changed into a black crop top, a pair of white high waisted shorts, and my white high top converse. I brushed out my long brown locks of hair and slipped my Vineyard Vines hat on. Just as I finished, I heard his car pull up in the driveway. I ran down the stairs as quickly as I could. The doorbell rang and I swiftly opened the door, jumping into Andrew’s arms. I swung my arms loosely around his neck and wrapped my legs around his waist. I buried my head in his neck as his chest vibrated from his chuckling. “I’ve missed you so much.” I murmured, my lips brushing against his neck. “I’ve missed you to, Sum.” He said, swinging my front door closed, still holding me. He walked us to the couch and crashed down, with me now on his lap.

“How’s baseball?” I asked, shifting my position from his lap to the couch, just as my front door swung open. I whipped my head, turning to face the door and see who was coming in. Tyler and Carson came in, along with my mother and Tyler’s little siblings. I stood up immediately, Andrew following. My mom came up from behind Carson and Tyler and glared at me. “Hello Andrew, how are you?” She asked and he mumbled, ‘I’m good.’ Then she turned towards me to deal with me. “How did you call Andrew over? Huh? How did you find your phone?” She was furious. I pretended to not be afraid, “You didn’t do quite a good job at hiding it.” She was basically fuming at this point, “I was going to give it back today, but now you’re punished for even longer. After Andrew leaves, do not expect to see anyone for about a week.” She said angrily, grabbing my cell phone out of my hand. I shook my head. Whatever. Tyler was smirking and Carson looked extremely frightened. It’s probably because she’s never seen my mother as mad as she is right now. I’m quite use to it. My mother stormed into the kitchen, leaving flustered Carson, a smirking Tyler, a confused Andrew and a pissed off me.

“You snake! You vermin! You poop-headed meanie butt face!” I shouted, pointing accusingly at Tyler. He put his hands up, as if surrendering, “I didn’t do anything this time.” He chuckled. Andrew stood up and grabbed my shoulders trying to hold me back and soothe me all at the same time. “Sum, you still don’t swear?” Andrew asked, with a small grin. “No.” I replied, taking off my hat and aiming it at Tyler’s face. But he caught it before it could hit him. “This butt hole told my mom that I smoke! Like are you kidding me? I’m the last person to do drugs.” I said defeated as I plopped myself on the couch. “I don’t even know him!” I shouted, anger now building within me. “Dude, that’s fucked. You should tell her mom the truth. And Sum, loosen up a bit, it’s okay.” Andrew said, leaning down, leaving a small, wet, sloppy kiss on my cheek. I blushed furiously as Tyler grunted in reply to Drew and I’s lovely exchange of glances. “That was cute.” Carson said, beaming with delight. “Whatever.” Tyler said, leaving Carson behind to go into the kitchen to have a chat with my mom, I believe.

Moments later, my mom reentered into the living room to apologize to me, but she won’t give me back my phone or keys because I disobeyed her and snuck and stole my phone all on my own. I don’t really care, as long as she knows Tyler is a pathological liar and I would never do drugs, even if my own life depended on it.

Tyler’s P.O.V

Not being able to watch the love fest occurring right in front of my eyes, I headed to the kitchen to finally tell Summer’s mother the truth. As much as I would love to watch Summer suffer, I kind of feel bad, at the same time. “Mrs. Taylor.” I said, in a completely serious matter. “You can call me Grace, honey.” She smiled at me, setting Summer’s belongings on the counter. My eyes shifted from the keys and the cell phone to her eyes. We held contact for a couple seconds before I began talking, “You do know she didn’t do drugs, right?” Her mother’s eyes became big and her cheeks flushed. “What?” She asked. I repeated, “She didn’t do drugs.” She let out a big sigh and thanked me for being honest before heading into the living room to apologize to Summer. I followed her back into the living room and walked over to Carson, slinging an arm around her shoulder. “Her, what are you doing this weekend?” I asked her. She blushed ferociously before answering, “Nothing. Why?” I smirked, “You should come to a party with me. It’ll be a night to remember.” She nodded, agreeing to the plans. We said goodbye to Summer and her mother and headed out the door so that I could drive her home.
