The Virginia night was cold. Salem looked up at the sky, his green eyes flashing. His gaze darkened as he saw a shadow in the corner of his eye. He blinked. "Must've been the wind..." He guessed. Today was October 29th. Two days before Halloween. The forest swayed behind Salem as he turned to look behind him. He had been running so long from the Green Forest Asylum. The place he no longer called home. Salem was running as far as he could from the white-walled prison, an asylum is not a home. He was cold, so cold. His eyes darted nervously as the lights of the city flickered. Then the noise began...Scratching... The sound of the forest crushing under something made his skin prickle as he started running towards the open field in front of him.
The Asylum was no place for him. He couldn't go back or they would try to help him. Salem didn't need help. He wasn't insane by his own standards, merely hurt. He had watched as the spirits killed his family, and he started running. They caught him once, and they starved him until he was forced to cannibalism. He regretted all of it. Salem held a file in his hand. His file. The file has ruined his life. It pronounced him insane and erratic. Too dangerous to be around. Every "normal" person he'd been put with couldn't help him. He tried. He really tried to save himself. But the only way was to die now. Salem couldn't turn back. He just couldn't. He'd be locked in the basement until he rotted away... He was human after all. The file was wrong. Everyone else was wrong. He would never love. Salem's heart was broken and shattered already. Band-Aids can't fix bullet holes.
SALEM FOXHEART:
Cause of imprisonment: Mutilation, unresponsiveness, hallucination, suspected cannibalism.
Taken to Asylum: Jan. Fri. 13, 2008 Date Of Birth: October 31, 2002 Age: 15
Notes to Caretaker: This one is hard to tame, he doesn't like loud noises, and be careful not to get near him when he's angry. We don't want another one hurt. If he needs other company, see Ringo. Ringo is his friend and he (probably) won't hurt her. Salem isn't a talker and prefers if you'd not pity him.
The file had nothing on him. They understand nothing about him. Salem didn't kill those men that day he was taken. He never would hurt them. But they still wanted to imprison young 15 year old Salem, who never purposefully hurt anyone. He saw the fire. He bent down and threw the file in the blazing fire, watching it burn to ashes.
