Salem had been gone so long, Ringo thought he might've forgotten about her. He'd always promised that one of us would get out. The white walls surrounded Ringo, closing in on her. She was laying in her bed, reading a book she had gotten. It was late, but that was normal. No one got sleep here. She liked it here but it wasn't quite a home. Her aggression and mental breakdowns got her here. Shed never had a caretaker, they didn't give her anyone to talk to but Salem. And now he was gone. She clenched her fist and threw the book shed been reading. Ringo screeched, "WHY!!!??? LET ME OUT OF HERE!! YOU CANT KEEP ME IN THE DARK FOREVER!!" No one came to help her. That was when she got tired and lay against the wall, falling asleep.

Ringo woke, the sun thru the barred window shining relentlessly down on her. The book she threw last night lay flat on its side, the cover shining back in her face as she picked it up and stacked it on her desk. Laying back down, Ringo heard a knock on her door.

Ringo walked up to the door cautiously, there never were visitors. She opened the door to see a young girl, about Ringo's age, staring at her file. Ringo retreated, uncertain whether she should be scared or happy. Looking up, the girl said, her voice cracking, "um...hello. I'm... Holly....and I'll be your new caretaker."

Ringo looked up at Holly, her eyes darting nervously as Holly tilted her head and sighed. "It did say you were sort of unresponsive, and that I should be careful about what I say..." She said, looking at the file again. Ringo furrowed her brow and took a step towards Holly, snatching the file away, and stared at it.

RINGO FERNWOOD:

Cause of imprisonment: Unresponsiveness, Mental breakdowns, inability to distinguish right from wrong, aggression.

Taken to Asylum: Sun. April 17, 2013. Date of Birth: July 9, 2002. Age: 15

Notes to Caretaker: Ringo is shy and introverted, not talking to many people. Its okay if she refuses to speak to you, she had a rough past and doesn't trust others except for her friend, Salem. Take her to Salem if you can't get her to do anything. She (probably) won't hurt you and never has had a caretaker, leaving her alone would be fine for a bit. Be careful what you say, she could turn from happy to crying easily. She is emotional and prefers if you don't pity her.

"Who's Salem?" Holly asked, looking at the abrasions on Ringo's neck."M-my...F-f-friend....he's gone n-now." Ringo replied shakily, in her horrible, raspy voice that sounded as if she had never used it. She started crying. Ringo's tears dripped onto the file and she threw it at the wall. The pages fell out and Holly reached out to clean it up.

"S-s-sorry..." Ringo hissed between crying. "I... D-dont want to... T-talk about Salem..." She rasped quietly, her tears streaming down her face. Holly looked back at Ringo, her eyes softening as she got back up, the file in her hand. She looked at Ringo, quietly whispering, "It's okay. I'm sorry I upset you. I'll be outside, getting used to the place. Call if you need me."

"T-Thank Y-you. This m-means a lot t-to me..." Ringo cried, her face in her hands as she sat down on her bed. Holly walked out, and away from her. Ringo sighed. This was how it was gonna be, unless she could help it.
