What was a normal day for our family, turned out to be anything but normal.
Sure, we'd had social workers pay us 'special visits' before, and yeah, we'd been hurt often, sometimes to the point where scars were left behind.
Nothing was ever really 'perfect.' I mean, no one's life is perfect. That would just be impossible. Life interferes sometime or another. It doesn't leave one life, family, or country, etc., alone.
You get the point. It doesn't matter who you are or where you are, something tragic or unexpected will happen. It could be bad or it could be REALLY bad, who knows?
For us, life interfered often. It never left us alone for long.
The day the CPS showed up should've been bad enough. Right?
No.
The day they showed up, our brother, Chris, was hit by a car.
The ambulance carried him out of the house on a stretcher while they were still sitting on the couch.
Yeah, I was thinking the same thing.
If the reason they were there wasn't bad enough, this sure was a great thing to add to that list.

As they strapped him to the stretcher, the woman who I'd be going home with calmed us down and got us to go upstairs and pack some clothes.

When we got up there and managed to find some, we stuffed them into a couple trash bags and headed back down stairs.

By that time, Chris was gone.
He didn't die, in case you were wondering.
Although he was scratched up and had quite a few bruises, along with road rash, he was going to be okay.

Once we were ready to go, we left.
My sisters with one lady, and me with the other.

I wish I could say this was the end of our story, but unfortunately, it's not.
