Prologue: The Promise We Made
"Cmon!"
"I'm coming, hold on!"
I giggled as we raced towards our secret spot. I sat down on the log next to him as we kicked our feet together in perfect unison. The bright blue waters gently moved as the breezes came by, pushing my hair to the left of me. The flowers had been in bloom and everything seemed so perfect.
"Oh! Take this.", I said, holding out a small locket to him. "Eh? What's this for?", he asked and I smiled widely. "In case we ever loose each other, we'll know who we are by that!" He raised an eyebrow. "I have the key! So when I open it, you'll find my little present.", I said, winking as he gasped. "Open it now!"
"No way! We've gotta wait till we're older silly!" He pouted as I giggled. He glanced over at me and smiled. "Promise we'll meet again?"
"I promise.", he smiled and looked back at the sky, reciting something his mother told him, and something that would stick with me forever.
"Quand il pleut, cherchez des arc-en-ciel. Quand il fait noir, cherchez des étoiles."
I smiled a small smile and looked back out at the sky. His mother called for him and he left me.
That was the last memory I had with him. I can't remember his face, or name, but someday I just know I'll find him!
