The girl stared deeply into the fire, watching the flames flicker and dance. It was so tempting. To just fall. No one would care. No one would even know. There wasn't anyone left in the world who knew she actually existed. She was almost a myth. It would be so easy to just lay down in the warmth of the hearth. To just let it take her away. As she approached the life ending heat, she felt a hand on her shoulder. She looked back, but no one was there. She turned back to the Fire, fully intending to relinquish her fragile hold on life. This time, she heard a faint voice, repeating the same six words.
"Please don't throw your life away... Please don't throw your life away... Please don't throw your life away..."
She glanced behind herself again, despite knowing she would see only the darkness that had so quickly swallowed her world.
The warmth of a hand upon her shoulder joined the soft voice which continued to echo its message, over and over.
