Thalia
I was trying to fall asleep when an IM appeared in front of me. I sat up groggily and found myself face to face with Chiron. He looked worried.
"What's up?" I asked.
"Thalia, where are you?" he asked. I shrugged.
"Minnesota, I think. Why?"
"I need you to get on a plane now and fly to New York. There was a terrible accident." he said. The news hit me like a baseball bat to the chest.
"Jason?" I asked, barely able to get the word out. He sighed.
"They're all in the hospital, but Percy and Annabeth are barely alive. We don't know if they're going to make it. Hurry, Thalia." he said, and he ran his hand through the mist. I scrambled to my feet and ran out of my tent. One of the Hunters, her name is Jess, put her hand on my shoulder.
"Thalia, what's wrong?" she asked. I took a deep breath.
"I need to talk to Artemis. It's an emergency." I said. She stepped out of my way and I ran to Artemis' tent.
"Thalia, what are you- Oh, Thalia, are you alright? Why are you crying?" she asked, standing and walking towards me.
"There was a crash. Jason, Percy, and Annabeth are in the hospital. I have to go," I said, shaking slightly. Artemis didn't hesitate, but handed me money.
"Go, Thalia, and stay as long as you need. Do not come back until you are sure they will all be alright. We will be in contact." she said. I thanked her, and ran out of the tent, and into the woods. At that point, it hit me. I'd have to fly. I'm a daughter of Zeus, he wouldn't shoot me down, I think, but I'm terrified of heights. But I had to do it. For Jason and Annabeth, I'd have to do it.When I reached the airport, I bought the first ticket I could to JFK. I had to wait for a couple hours, the longest hours of my life. After I went through security, I dug through my bag to see how many drachmas I had. Six. That's it. I had to resist the urge to go into the bathroom and iris message Chiron, but there was no guarantee I'd be alone. Finally, they called for boarding. I stood up, fighting panic, and got in line.
"How old are you, darling?" the desk lady asked.
"Nineteen," I said, lying. She looked doubtful, but shrugged and sent me through. I found my seat and sat down, hyperventilating. A man, who seemed to be mortal, sat next to me.
"Scared of flying?" he asked. I nodded.
"It scared me too when I was your age. Once we lift off, it won't even feel like we're in the air. Plus, it's only two and a half hours. Really short flight," he said. I sighed. Annabeth could be dead by the time I got there. No, I couldn't think like that. She'll make it. She has to. I don't think I could live without her. And I couldn't lose Jason again.
