She's safe. That's the first thing I think about after taking Daisy to her classroom, where I hope she will have fun with her fellow classmates. I make my way to history but as I'm walking through the hall, I stop in my tracks because for some reason I feel like someone is following me. I study the hall carefully, trying to make out any movement. But the hall seems dead, which makes me even more eager to get to class. A feeling I've never experienced about school.
I have just walked into the classroom when a voice calls out “Jenny, I saved you a seat” I know immediately who the voice belongs too. “Thanks, Sean” I reply instantly. With out hesitating I take his hand where his fingers entwine with mine. I can feel everyone's eyes strained on us with out even looking up, but do I care? No! Why should I were just good friends after all.
Sean picks up on this as well and says to me “Just ignore them, like I do” but whilst he is talking to me he is tightening his grip around my hand as if he was a boa constricter killing its prey. But as i'm about to answer him our history teacher comes running into the classroom, looking more sweatier than usual, considering that he is also a gym teacher. But in his hand which he is waving around like some lunatic, he holds a note. A note that has Jenny Star written on the front. That's when I realise that the note that my teacher is holding is for me!
At first I think it must be a letter from my farther at long last, or even a long lost family member. But it is obviously not as the look on my teacher face is distraught. Which can only mean one thing, something terrible has happened. And with that thought in my head one person springs to mind. Daisy!
I jump up from my seat and grab the letter from my teacher's sweaty hand where I begin to read the note. But my are hands are trembling so much due to how nervous I am feeling right now, that I can't make out one single letter. But I don't dare ask Sean to read it for me, because if something has happened which I know it has. It could include him and I don't want to risk him getting hurt.
“Jenny, do you want me to read it for you?” I look up and see a strong, muscular young boy, with fair blonde hair yet it looks scruffy. Which I must admit makes him look attractive. His eyes are glimmering green, like mine. He makes a small cough whilst he towers above me awaiting my answer. It takes me a while to realise who he is, as he looks very familiar. That's when I realise this young boy is Jason Nike.
Jason Nike, I owe this boy my life! Because when my farther was first announced lost at sea, my mother left me to defend for us all and with me only being twelve years old and Daisy being nine, it was a struggle. Especially, when Daisy managed to run away one day.
It was in the middle of summer, and Daisy wanted me to take her swimming in the river down town I said I would as it was an extremely hot day but I had other things to do first, such as take care of our mother. But somehow Daisy managed to sneak out and when I realised she was missing I went hysterical!
I ran and knocked around on everybody's door asking them if they have seen my little sister. Unfortunately, every answer was the same. No. I had about knocked on everybody's door that I could think of, when I heard a scream from over a hill. There was no mistaking who it belonged to. “DAISY!” I screamed and ran as fast as my legs could carry me, but when I reached her, it was to late I could see the stampede of cattle racing towards her. I darted forward risking my own life to save hers. But it was no use, I couldn't get to her there was to many cattle in my way to reach her.
I knew in my heart all hope was lost, that I was about to lose my little sister for ever.
When all of a sudden a young boy about the same age as me had ran in front of the cattle grabbed Daisy and was forcing his way back out of the stampede with her in his arms. I stood there motionless, not understanding what had just happened. A minute ago I was about to loose my little sister now she was on her way back to me.
“JENNY!!” she screamed running towards me, I pulled her in close to me crying like a baby, when I snapped at her “What did you think you were doing! I've been worried sick!” she looked at me with tears in her eyes.
“I just wanted to go for a swim” she said this with a guilty look on her face, but I was no longer focusing on her I was focusing on the young boy that had saved her life. Jason Nike. He saved her life and in which by doing so, also saved mine. I promised myself that if that boy ever needed help or was in any danger I would help him, and to seal that promise I walked over to where he was standing catching his breath, and gave him a light kiss on the nose just before whispering in his ear “Thank you so much”
“Jenny?” I'm brought back to reality with Jason down by my side stroking my face as if i'm some sort of cat. “Yes please” I say whilst handing him the letter. I wait for him to start reading, but instead the whole colour from his face drains. Instantly, I know whatever the news is, I don't want it said in front of everyone. Jason seems to pick up on what I am thinking and offers me his hand in which I don't refuse and he leads me out of the classroom. Where I can feel Sean's eyes following me. “What is it?”
He looks at me and says “You might want to sit down before I start reading” I wish I read it myself now, how long must he make me wait for him to read a letter, but once I sit myself down against the cold dull wall there's no stopping him.
