I don't really want to go to a new school. But I can't go back to WMHS. So Dalton it is. Today is my first day, and I'm nervous, to say the least. Then again, when have a few butterflies in the stomach ever stopped Kurt Hummel? I button my blazer carefully, taking my time as I watch myself in the mirror. Deep breaths. I grab my bag. Here goes nothing.
On my way there, my phone chimes.
627-519-8826: Hello Kurt. I hear this is your first day at Dalton, so I'd like to give you a warm Warbler welcoming. Meet us under the apple tree during lunch.
I'm glad this person seems so nice, but also very concerned. Who is this person? Why do they have my number? The more I thought about it the more unnerved I got.
I'm sorry, who is this? I reply back. A few minutes later they answer.
A friend.
That's it, just two words. I don't know what he means. But I guess I'll have to find out. Suddenly my dad's voice brings me back to reality. "Who ya texting? Rachel?"
"Um yeah. Yeah. She's ugh, just picking out her outfit and umm, just wanted my help." I lie.
"Uh huh. Well we're here. It's show time, kiddo." Burt says.
I look up. Dalton is big, but not quite as big as McKinley. I straighten my striped tie and lean over to hug my dad.
"Now listen here, if anyone here tries to give you any crap, just let me know. I'll smack the living daylights out of them." He says. I chuckle, but I know that there's a very real possibility I could get picked on. I know this place has a no bullying policy, but I can't imagine everyone follows it.
"Alright. Bye dad."
"Bye son."
I step out of the car, onto the crunchy gray gravel. I have no clue where to go, but everyone else seems to be heading in the direction of the largest building so I follow them. I try to keep my head down and blend in. Unfortunately, that doesn't seem to work, because a tall guy with dark hair and a handsome face stops me.
"Hello. I'm Sebastian Smythe." He offers his hand, and I shake it, flustered.
"Umm.. hi. I'm Kurt Hummel." I stammer. God, he's beautiful. "Yeah, I know. You're the new kid. Walk with me." He says it as an order, not a question.
I've never met anyone like him, so sure of himself. I immediately decide then that I want to be his friend. So I follow him.
