It's the day after my awkward dinner with Sebastian. Last night we had actually ended up eating together at that pizza place. I think it may have been a date. I still don't really know. But he did definitely sit next to me and I did definitely get shivers each time his knee would accidentally bump into mine and I did definitely catch him staring at me on more then one occasion. So maybe it was a date.
Anyways now school just ended and I'm on my way to Rachel's house. She's been texting me constantly last night and all day today, still worried about me. Last night I texted her after Sebastian got there and told her that I didn't need a ride anymore, which looking back on that now I probably seemed like a bit of an ass at the time, but I'm sure she'll be fine once I explain.
An hour later, Rach and I are sitting on her couch watching Moulin Rouge. Her dads are away on some sort of 20 year anniversary trip, so it's just her and I. She hasn't said anything about last night, so it looms over us like an elephant in the room. I think she may be more upset than I had predicted. Although, with Rachel, that's typical.
"So who's Sebastian?" She says, while staring at the tv, refusing to look at me.
I sigh. "A guy from school."
"Oh. So is he your new friend? Your new Rachel?"
I almost have to stop myself from laughing. Is she serious? I make a new friend, something I haven't done in literally YEARS and she thinks I'm replacing her? "It's not like that. You're still my Rachel. He's just another person in my life, I'm sorry if that upsets you so much." I wince a little at the sarcasm in my voice.
I look up from my hands, which I had been staring at while I yelled. Rachel's face is pale, her lips pursed tight together. She looks like she's going to cry. My heart sinks.
"I've just missed you Kurt. You were my best friend, and now you're gone." She says after a moment of silence.
I reach up to hug her. "Hey, hey. I'm not gone. I'm here, aren't I? I'm not going anywhere. I love you."
"I love you too," she says, through tears.
