We told Gally how we were there. How we saw his dead sister at J-Winnie’s. I started to feel guilty about not telling Leo that his stepfather killed Elie. “Leo, I have something to tell you, too.” I told him. “What is it? It can’t be worse than what has already happened.” He spoke. “Leo, Ember saw who the man was. Leo, Marcus killed Elie.” He started to cry. “I’m so sorry, Leo. When Ember told me, she asked me not to tell you because she didn’t want to hurt your feelings.” I explained. Gally and I listened as Leo cried off ten pounds. I tried to comfort him, but he squirmed away. Gally was the first to say a word. “Do you guys want to come in?” He asked. We followed him to the back yard where there was a beautiful garden and a nice deck. “Where are we going?” I asked. “The back way. My parents have been very careful about who I can have over since, Elie. Since she was...” I could tell it was hard for him to say, killed. We sneak in through the garden. We came upon a tunnel. Gally signaled us in, still watching to make sure no one saw. But there wasn’t anyone around. We walk through the tunnel, water dripping from the soil above. We finally went up some steps and we were in a closet. “This, is my room.” Gally said. “Try not to be too loud. My mom is…” He stopped. He shoved us back into the closet. “You mom is, what?” Said his mother. She looked meaner than a hungry hippo. “My mom is, wonderful! My mom is wonderful.” Gally trembled. SHe slapped him across him face with a loud shout. “Do not, EVER, bring anyone into this house without my consensus.” She reached to the closet door and it flung open.

By the time her blood thirsty eyes gazed through the closet, we had already made our way back through the tunnel. We raced back to the barn. “Get them back here. You have plenty of pain coming for the three of you.” Said Gally’s mom. When we met her at the ice cream parlor, she was so nice. When she has anger, though, she was a charging bull.
