None of these wonderful characters belong to me and I am in no way trying to steal them or sell them off as my own. I am merely borrowing them from the amazing jk Rowling for the entertainment of myself and others. Enjoy xx

{James Potter- age 11}

I readjusted my glasses and raced after Sirius who was already bounding up the huge stairs leading to the back entrance of Hogwarts, school of witchcraft and wizardry. I turned around to see if the rest of my new friends had caught up and was surprised to see they were a little behind us. Peter as on the floor and remus was seemingly helping him up. "Oi! Sirius! Wait up Peter fell!" I yelled at Sirius before turning and running in the direction I had just come from. By the time I reached the other two boys Sirius was right behind me. "You ok Peter?" he asked in a concerned voice. "Yeah fine" Peter replied. "What happened?" I asked, looking over at Remus quizzingly. He smiled slightly before replying "He tripped on a tree root." I could tell he found this funny but was too polite to laugh. I grinned at him and looked over at Sirius and Peter only to find them both smiling ear to ear as well. Suddenly all four of us burst out laughing and collapsed to the floor.

A couple of passing first years gave us some strange looks but no one said anything. When we all finally managed to get back up again we started heading back towards the castle again. Now we were at the back of the huge group of first years but I didn't even care. I just wanted to stay here, in this moment. Forever. We got through the gates and walked up a large marble staircase. At the top we were greeted by a woman who introduced herself to us as professor McGonigall. She had big, kind eyes and her lips were in a tight smile. "All right! Settle down! In a moment we will proceed through the doors behind me and you will join the rest of your classmates in the great hall for dinner. But before that you will be sorted into one of the four houses. Ravenclaw, where wit is the highest of value, Hufflepuff where loyalty is at it's greatest, Gryffindor where those who're brave at heart dwell or Slytherin, where ambition is most important." And with that she turned, opened the great doors and walked through.

This was the most beautiful room I had seen in my entire life. The ceiling was bewitched to look like the night sky, candles hung in mid-air and students crammed around every table, chatting excitedly and trying to predict what houses the first years would be in. We'd reached the front of the hall and McGonigall signaled us to a halt.

We stopped and stood expectantly. She called out the first few names. The kids went up, sat on a stool, she placed the sorting hat on their head and a while later they were placed in a house. McGonigall called the next name. "Evans, Lily!" I looked up only to see the most gorgeous girl in all of Hogwarts. I'd met her on the train, before Remus had joined us. She had been sitting there with her grimy friend, Severus. Next to such a horrible human she looked even more amazing. I don't think I impressed her very much on the train but unfortunately my mouth tends to act before my brain thinks. It's not like it was my fault anyways, I don't know what she was doing hanging out with that git but Snape deserved that. He started it anyways.

Now I'm staring at Lily's amazing red hair swaying behind her as she walks up to the front. The sorting hat only barely touches her head when it screams out 'Gryffindor!" Everyone cheers and Lily skips over to the table. The next name is called. And then the next. And so five more names are called and then mine is."Potter, James!" I gulp and walk over to the stool. I feel the hat on my head, inhale and.... "Gryffindor!" It shouts out. I whoop excitedly and scurry over to my new table. Turning around just in time to see the next person walking up to the front pale and nervous. My new best mate, Sirius.

{Lily Evans- age 11}

I tugged my tie, which had just turned the Gryffindor colours of gold and red, tight and looked up to see the next person getting sorted. It was Remus Lupin. He looked nice. Scruffy and tired for someone our age but he looked approachable. The sorting hat had been on his head for a little less than a minute when it screamed out "Gryffindor!". I cheered with the rest of my new house as Remus happily walked over to the Gryffindor table, looking back at some boys I'm guessing he became friends with.

Two of them were already at our table. The other one, Sirius wasn't sorted yet. I'd already met two of them. James Potter and Sirius Black.   They'd made fun of my friend Sev on the Hogwarts express and although I'm not one to hold grudges, I don't think I'm going to be forgetting this incident very soon. Remus had plonked himself down besides a third year sitting opposite me and smiled at me politely. I smiled back. I have no idea what someone that seemed so polite and lovely was doing with people like Potter and Black.

By the time I glanced back up towards the top of the hall five people had been sorted into Hufflepuff, three into Ravenclaw and Slytherin had two new additions. The next name called out was no other than that of my friend from back home "Snape, Severus!" My head snapped up at the name and I crossed my fingers. He walked up to the stool with an empty look on his face. He sat down and as soon as the hat touched his head it bellowed "Slytherin!".

My face dropped and I looked at him glumly. He did no more than shrug and walk off to join the Slytherin table. There were only fifteen or so people left standing at the top of the hall. "Potter, James" was called next. He walked up to the sorting hat with a confident grin on his face and was almost immediately sorted into Gryffindor. I sighed loudly while the rest of our table cheered, Remus and the other boy that had been standing with them, whom I now knew as Peter, louder than the rest of us.

Potter walked over to our table smugly and plonked himself down right next to me. Great now I'm going to have to deal with this all evening as well. The last person standing at the top "Black, Sirius" was called to the front and the room filled with anticipation.

The hat sat on his head for around five whole minutes, the longest it has taken tonight, before quietly but confidently calling out "Gryffindor". A look of utter shock passed over Sirius' face before he silently stood up and walked over to our table, sitting down next to an erotic James. The food magically appeared before us and people started digging in while Sirius sat there stone faced and confused as his friends tried to talk to him.
