It all started one day when the weather was still. Only a few clouds scattered across the sky of Marmic, Oh. It was the first day of 11th grade for me, Destanee Danpora, and I was already off to a bad start.
First, I woke up late that morning. I just threw on a half wrinkled purple dress that just reached her knees. Black lace was stitched on the bottom of the bust and hung from the hem.
Second, I straightened my black and blue hair, missing the waves on the back of my head. Ugh I groaned to myself after realizing my mess up. I gently placed my new black glasses on, tossed my backpack over my shoulder, and rushed to my dad's blue Nissan. I'm sooo going to be late.
When I pulled up to the school, after 15 minutes, and my eyes fell on a boy sitting lonely on the steps. His pitch black hair hung in front of his face. He wore black skinny jeans, a red Sleeping W Sirens shirt, black converse, and 5 wristbands on each of his arms.
I walked over, sat next to him, put in ny ear buds, and listened to King For A Day by Pierce the Veil ft Kellin Quinn. He looked over at me. His ice blue eyes searching for something. I only looked at him out of the corner of my eye. He noticed and looked back the ground. It felt like love at first sight when we made eye contact. I nearly melted. Yes, I know, I'm being melodramatic but it's true.
I got up after two more songs and noticed the first bell already rang. I ran through the hallway searching for my first class. The principal gave me a tour last week so I would know all my classes. Biology room #561. I walked in and sat at the empty desk in the back corner. Not even ten minutes after the guy walked in. He sat down next to me.
"Hey, I'm Brody Makston. What happens to be yours?" He wrote on a piece of paper.
"Talk and I'll tell you." I wrote back.
"Fine. But don't get used to it." He whispered. His voice was like liquid gold.
"It's okay. I barely talk. Every word that comes out of my mouth ends up floating to the wrong ears and hurts me. I'm new and my name is Destanee Danpora." I whispered and blushed as my eyes fell on his.
"I can help you around here. This school is full of homophobic pricks and sluts who just want 'fun'," he put quotes around fun, "my best friend was gay. He got bullied so bad he committed suicide last year in the boys bathroom." he hesitated then handed me the paper.
"Do you ever get bullied? I use to. Then my neighbor/bully moved away. If felt like a weight was lifted off my shoulders. I walked home one day to find a guy stabbing my mother then he shoved her body out the attic window and ran." a tear fell on the paper.
He read it and grabbed my hand. "It'll be alright." I dont even know this guy but it feels right to tell him everything.
I was about to respond when a huge gust of wind came and shattered the windows lining the outer wall. My hand started to tingle and I looked down. A green sphere was flaming in my palm. Oh. My. God.
I looked around and everyone was more worried about the window. Only two people where staring at me with scared expressions. Brody and a guy with dirty blonde hair and piercing green eyes.
I knew who he was. He was my old neighbor. The guy who made my life hell.
