I ran out of the classroom with both boys high on my tail. I looked back to see Xavier, my ex neighbor, gaining speed with every step he took. I ran into the girl's bathroom and Brody followed me in. I locked myself in a stall and saw him peaking through the crack, watching me cry with worry.
This isn't normal. It was just my imagination. No. They must of saw it too.
I looked at my hand again. It was normal. Not anything to even prove the orb of fire was there.
"Destanee?" Brody's hushed voice growing distant as he walked to other stalls. I slowly opened mine. He was there in less than 2 seconds. I started crying and he just kneeled down and grabbed my hands. "What's wrong?"
"Why do you care?" I managed to say through my falling tears.
He wiped away my tears. "Your different from the others. And earlier, in the classroom," he got interrupted by someone walking in. I pulled him into the stall with me. It was tight so we were squished chest to chest. He whispered the rest so we wouldn't get caught, "earlier in the classroom I saw the fire in your hand. I've seen if before. When I was little the same thing happened to me." He opened his hand and an orb of yellow poped into his palm. "I've learned. Come over after school and I'll tell you more." He gave me a piece of paper with his address and number.
We live on the same street. He snuck out and I followed a few minutes later.
*Later at lunch*
I sat by myself underneath an old willow tree. I don't eat. If I do I'll throw up. It's always been that way with both breakfast and lunch.
"Go kill yourself you little emo douche," I heard coming from behind me. I slightly turned to see Brody being shoved up against the wall. A blonde guy, who looked like he was a jock, started punching him in the face.
Brody fell down the wall of the school and the jock started kicking him in the stomach.
"Speechless? You better not be. Where is she? Where is the girl your hiding? We need to greet her properly." The jock laughed and kicked Brody again. "Fine. If you're not going to talk, we're going to find her ourselves and do worse things than you could imagine. Bye freak." He kicked Brody two more times and left with his friends.
I watched them walk away and ran to Brody. "Oh my god are you okay?" I said half expecting an answer. "Who are they looking for?" He sat up, wincing in pain.
He wrapped his arms around his body and mumbled what sounded like a chant. Suddenly he was all better. "They're looking for you. Someone from their clan saw what happened in biology. They're looking for you so you can be sold to their alpha. Run. I'll go with you."
I could tell he was serious. "I... I don't know..." And with that I ran into the the school. I stumbled into the bathroom and a bag was put on my head.
I kicked and screamed as I got pulled out of the building. They pulled me into a vehicle and drove off. We stopped and I was suddenly getting dragged out. They pulled me through what seemed like a really soft floored room. When they took the bag off my head I saw the most beautiful brown eyes I've ever seen.
