I open my eyes and they immediately focus on the moon outside, it looks like it's still night outside. All of a sudden, a sharp pain runs through my arm, I slowly adjust myself into a comfortable position. The first thing I notice is blood, running down my arm profusely. I look down and blood is smeared over the pillow. Panic rushes through me, what is going on? The pain is so intense that I'm digging my nails into the palm of my hand to counteract it. I saw something in the corner of my eye, I quickly scan the room, there must be an intruder. My eyes adjust near the closet door, a humanoid figure appears. I immediately jump back but I'm frozen solid from fear. They say you experience fight or flight in moments of fear, but I seem incapable of both. I edge towards my bedroom door backwards, trying to keep my eyes on the figure. I reach backwards and feel around for the door handle but instead I feel a hand intertwine mine and a icy cold breath on my neck. I'm shaking, that is about the only movement I can manage. A tear drops down my face which feels warm compared to the ice-like temperatures in my room. My eyes adjust more and I notice these creatures have ten fingers on each hand which is extremely unsettling, as this is the moment I realise these aren't human. Are these the extra terrestrials everyone is talking about? How are they surviving our planet? Surely they can't breathe our oxygen?
"W-what are you?" I ask more of a statement than a question. I hear a faint whisper in my right ear, this is no sound I can explain, each individual vibration travelling through to my ear drums sounds like a crack. If they don't belong to this universe how are they supposed to make sound travel? I have a sudden burst of confidence and fear mixed together, I whip my arm back as fast as I can causing this creature to stumble but remain its balance. It felt like leather on my skin, but it cut through, leaving marks. I feel powerless and helpless. I hear the sound of plastic against plastic, my head jolts toward the direction of the sound. Both creatures are cornering me and one is holding a syringe. There is absolutely nothing I can do to save myself, I lean back against the wall and decide to accept my fate.
I wake up, the sun is glaring through my window. I suddenly get flashbacks from last night, the figures, the blood, the syringe. I sigh from relief, it was just a dream. I attempt to sit up but I put my hand in something damp, I look down to see blood, and a black dot on my arm. No, no this can't be real, that was definitely a dream. But if that was a dream,
how else would I explain this? I won't tell anyone, they will think I'm insane like my mother. I strip my bed of the sheets and go to the sink to wash the blood off my arm. I know this will be hard, but I have to forget this.
