I was driving through Hawaii. My eyes were filled with tears as I pulled into the driveway of my boyfriend's house. I took deep breaths, trying so damn hard to calm down. But I couldn't do it. I instead parked the car and turned it off, opening the door. I got out and walked to the door. I lifted my hand and knocked on the wood. His father opened the door, but his face fell into a frown when he saw the tears.

"Dea?"

I looked him in the eye, not being able to say the words. Steven came to his side along and they frowned. I didn't move from my spot. I just reached into my purse and took out the envelope that held everything I could ever wish for, and the one thing that would change our lives forever. Steven took the envelope softly as I tried to blink the tears away. He opened the envelope and his face froze. His dad took it and looked up at me.

"You're..... pregnant?"

I nodded. Steven didn't move, which terrified me. I looked him over and saw his hands fisting at his sides. I shook my head and turned around, walking to my car. I didn't look back as his dad called my name. I just pulled open the door, started the car and drove off.

-Ten Years Later-

I looked in my rear view at the young girl in the back of the car, her smile giving me the strength to do this. She looked back at me and smiled before we climbed out of the car. I looked up at the building in front of us and took deep breaths. A soft hand intertwined with mine as I led my daughter up the stairs of the Five-0 headquarters. A guard stopped us and I tried to stay calm.

"I need to speak with Steven McGarrett." I told him.

"Pass?"

"I don't have one. This is personal."

We got into a ten minute argument until he finally sighed.

"I'll take you up there, but if he tells you to leave then you will have to."

I nodded and we followed him upstairs. Selene smiled at me as the door opened and I smiled back at her. I didn't see Steven, but the other people around the table turned to look at us. I faced the guard.

"Thank you."

He nodded. "Remember what I said."

"I will."

He walked away as I turned to the group. A woman came up to me and held out her hand.

"Kono Kalakaua. May we help you?"

I shook her hand. "Um, yes actually. Is Steven here?"

"Why are you looking for Steve?" A blonde asked.

"It's personal."

The Hawaiian man next to him frowned.

"He's out right now."

I sighed and Selene tugged on my hand. I looked over.

"Mom, are you okay?"

"I'm fine."

"It's dad, isn't it? He's not here."

The group gaped as I nodded. I faced the woman.

"We'll come back later."

I turned around and my jaw hit the floor. Because he was standing right there, with another woman. I shook my head and pulled Selene's hand. Steven looked at me strange.

"Ma'am-"

"Excuse me." I said. "Come on, Selene."

We walked down the stairs, Selene not leaving my side. The guard looked at me and noticed something.

"Are you crying?"

I lifted my hand and wiped the tears. I sent him a smile before we walked back out to the car. Selene climbed into the car as I opened the door for her. I was about to get in when someone called my name.

"Deonna?"

I glanced at the sound, and saw Steven. I just shook my head, got in and drove off again. We drove for a while until we saw a shrimp truck and decided to stop to get a bite before we went to the hotel. Selene followed me to the truck and we ordered. Afterwards we went and sat down at one of the tables. As we ate, I noticed her staring at me. I sighed.

"What is it?"

"That man, he was my father. Wasn't he."

"Yes, Selene."

"Why did he leave?"

"It... it wasn't him who left, baby doll. I left because I was scared."

"Why?"

"Well, when I told him that I was pregnant with you... he looked down right furious. I was scared to stay there with him because of that. And when I came back a few months later... his dad had told me that he had basically forgotten about me. Like I didn't even exist."

"He sounds horrible."

I smiled sadly. "He's changed. And so have I."

"I know." She smiled. "And you are the best mother I could ever wish for."

I kissed her hand before nodding to her food.

"Finish up and we'll go for a dip."

She shook her head. "I just want to go back to the hotel."

"Alright."

She finished her food and smiled at me. I gave her a few dollars to go get a shaved ice as I cleared off the table. I turned around from the trash can and ran into someone.

"Oh. I am so sorry-"

I cut myself off when I noticed who I was talking to. Steven smiled a little.

"You're fine."

I pulled away from him as Selene joined my side. I opened my mouth but she cut me off.

"Leave my mother alone."

I smiled at her and took her hand.

"Head to the car. I'll be right there."

She sent Steven a look but listened. I turned to him.

"I don't know how you knew I was here or how you found me, but leave us alone."

"Dea-"

"Don't you dare!" I snapped. "I came back a little bit after I left and do you want to know what your dad told me? That you left and basically forgot about me. I raised Selene by myself for ten damn years, and I sure as Hell can do it again. I tried before to contact you but I never got a damn response. Today was a last ditch effort because she asked to try one more time. We did and, I can't fucking believe I am saying this, but I hope you have fun with your new girlfriend. I shouldn't even fucking care anymore. But I do because I have a daughter and she's yours. But you got pissed and didn't respond when I told or called you so I am done. You have your life, and we have ours. Now. If you will excuse me, I have a daughter to take care of."
