When we got to the place, Selene spotted Steve with the woman from before. She walked right up and hopped into the seat next to him. I followed after her as Lynn, I think, smiled at her. She then looked at me and held out her hand.

"I'm Lynn."

I shook her hand. "Deonna. This is Selene."

The ten year old smiled at Lynn before looking back to the moon-lit waters. I sat down next to Lynn and smiled at Selene.

"Sweetie?"

"Huh?"

"What are you looking at?"

"The water. Is it true that you used to go night surfing?"

She directed her question to Steven. I smiled at her straightforwardness and listened. He chuckled.

"Yeah. Your mom did too."

"Was it fun?"

"Depends." I stated. "It was for me when I watched Steven get irritated that I was a better night surfer than him."

He glared at me as Lynn laughed. I smirked.

"Really?" Lynn asked.

"Sometimes. Other times I just think she enjoyed watching me wipe out."

"That's not my fault!" I laughed. "You were the showoff."

We laughed together as the waiter came to the table. I smiled and ordered and so did the others. Selene just kept watching the water. I opened my mouth but she cut me off.

"Lemonade and the spiciest thing you have."

"Are you sure?" Steve asked.

She sent him a look. "I'll bet you that I can eat it all without so much as a sip of my drink."

"Deal." He said. "What do you want to bet on?"

She smirked. I knew that smirk.

"Selene..." I warned.

Steve looked at me then noticed what he had just done. But she was already speaking.

"If I win, you night surf with mom tonight while me and Lynn talk on the beach."

Lynn spoke. "Alright. And if he wins then will you come stay the night with us?"

I gaped at her, as did Steven. Selene smiled brightly.

"I would love to. But I am so not going to loose this."

"How about you come stay either way?" Steven asked.

She nodded as the food came out. I grabbed her hand to stop her.

"Selene." She looked at me. "I understand that you are a McGarrett and you want to see me night surf, but please don't push it again."

She softened and smiled at me. "I won't momma. I promise."

I sighed and let her hand go. She didn't rush through the food, but didn't need a drink either. When she was done, Steven gaped at her.

"Did you just-"

I held up my hand to stop his voice and looked at her hard. Lynn and Steven watched me as I looked at Selene. Her eyes were closed and she had clenched her hands. I was ready to jump up when she took a breath and looked at me.

"I'm fine."

I sighed and relaxed a little. "Are you sure baby girl?"

"I'm sure momma."

I smiled then sighed when she smirked. I nodded.

"You better be glad I kept that damn thing."

"I am. So are we going?"

"Let's grab our bathing suits from the hotel and I'll take you to see where we're going to stay when we move here fully."

"Yes!"

I watched as she jumped up and ran to the car. I keep calling it a car when it's really a truck. I put a twenty on the table and got up to go after her. Lynn stopped me.

"What were you looking for?"

"Last time she ate food like that she rushed it. Which sent her system into a panic. We were at the hospital for two weeks. She's got Steven's stomach and taste but she had my system. Anyways, Steven. You remember my old house?"

"Yeah. Why?"

"I'll meet you there."

As we got to the house, I felt the keys in my pocket weighing me down. I walked to the door and opened it, finding something shocking. Jade smiled from the doorway next to the hall.

"When you left, we kept it the same. Welcome home, Dea."

I smiled and walked to the back. Steven and Lynn were already there in their bathing suits so I smiled.

"You ready to get your ass kicked again?" I asked Steven.

He chuckled. "Whatever."

I looked to Selene when she tapped my arm and she motioned to the can of paint in her hand. I looked to the shed then smiled.

"See the shed? She's all yours."

"Really?!"

"Really. But first, watch me kick your dad's ass."

She giggled and sat down as me and Steven walked out to the water. When we rode over to the lineup, I stared at the water. My wave wasn't here yet. She was always here and I always took her down. I heard Steven sigh.

"Dea, can I tell you something?"

"Go ahead."

"When I left, I left because I was mad at myself. I hated myself for what I did, for making you run away from me, for everything. When I joined Five-0 seven years ago, I searched for you. I finally found you but I couldn't bring myself to call you or anything. Because I always thought that you would run off again or something." He looked back at the shore, at Selene. "She looks just like you.... I'm so sorry."

I looked over at him and smiled. I stuck my hand in the water and splashed him before paddling out to my wave. I got up, the paint all over me and my board lighting up in the moonlight. I tore up the wave, ripping off the crest and shredding the side. I smirked at Selene's shocked and awed face. I then took the board to the top and stayed there. Just as the wave was about to go down, I kicked off the board and did a flip in the air. As I dropped back into the water, I felt the smack of the cold water. I popped back up and grabbed my board. Steve chuckled at me as I threw my head back and howled into the air.

A couple people from the shore and the sea howled with me. I threw my hand in the air and waved before paddling back to the shore. Selene laughed and hugged me as I got to her.

"That was awesome!"

"That, my love, was night surfing."

"What was the howl?" Lynn asked.

"It was something we did all the time." Another voice said.
