I write to be free.
To be closer to people like me.I write when I cry.
To show the world my pain.I write when I laugh.
So other may share in the joy.I write to forget you.
I only end up remembering you.I write to say all the things I can't.
The things you will never know.I write because in a book, no one knows who I am.
It won't matter if I break here, because you will never know my face.I write to show the world's problems.
It's the only way some people will listen.I write most all because it's safe.
In my writing, I can hide. This poem actually won a national competition. It didn't win first prize but it was choosen from over 2,000 entries.
Also, no idea how often this will be updated. From Broken Stars
