"See me as the sky, that will always be there through day and night"

A beloved son, friend and a lover.

********

It was a perfect day for another adventurous event in school. As i got out from the car, holding the lunch box prepared by my mum, i head to the main entrance of University of Saint Claire.

As a first grader, everyone would think that life is easy. Parents would tell you that going to school is a great opportunity to meet new people and create new bond.

It'll be fun they say.. NOT.

Everything changed when people started making fun of me. Scrawny type of body, thick rimmed glasses, an 90's Aaron Carter haircut and being a nerd was the  "game changer".

My parents would never believe me if i tell them that kids make fun of me. Mum always thinks that they're just trying to be friendly.

But their kind of being "friendly" should not result in pushing you hard against walls, stealing your lunch box, pulling your hair, laughing at you because of your mishaps, slapping you, and make fun of you in front of other kids.

Mum scolded me when I came home with tattered uniform. She thought that i was reckless. I guess she never heard me say that it was my classmate who pushed me towards the bushes during our breaks.

However, everything changed. Changed because of a pre schooler who helped me while they're, my bullies, were making fun of me.

As I head towards the cafeteria with my lunch box, I was roughly pulled by Brian along with his best bud Bart Stillwill and his other clique. Brian Briarwood, son of Jacques Briarwood. Who owns the largest log company in the Philippines. Brian has been my bully since pre school. Kids like me, even if we were all rich, does not get in his circle of friends if he doesn't see it fit.

"Well, well, well,.. Who do we have here my friends?" Brian enthusiastically chirped earning chuckles from his group while I was pinned on the wall.

"Whu-what do y-you want Brian?" I nervously asked.

"Well, aside from your lunch box, we would also like your lunch money." He stated with nods of approval from his friends.

"Take my lunch box but leave my money. I'm saving this for my mums birthday."

Hearing his friends mutters "ohhs" in amusement, clearly Brian didn't like what I said seeing how his nostrils flared while his fist clenched.

Shutting my eyes close while i await for the first hit from his fist,

Three...

Two...

One...

Zero...

Negative One...

This countdown is getting ridiculous.

Seeing Brian on the ground with his hand cupping his right cheek was a shock. But seeing a girl having Brian's collar on tight lock is... Well, shocked but that's understatement of the school year.

Her left hand holsing his collar tightly while the other is tightly clenched and raised as if she is ready to punch Brian.

"I'd rather be in the cafeteria right now, but fight is where the fun is." she muttered under her breath. Trying to convince her self with reason as to why it's much better to be involved in this chaos.

"Hey brat! Leggo of me!" Brian, struggling under her. His friends still in shock as to how Brian was easily knocked by the little girl.
"So.. 'BRAT'!" amusement in her eyes as she mocks Brian. "Stealing lunch boxes 'cause mom and dad's money is not enough?" she questioned the group.

"I said let go of me br--"

It was like we were in a movie where everything went on 'slow-mo'. Brian's voice was as if morphed in an inhuman way, slowly dragging his voice to utter the words. While the pre-schooler's fist slowly and excruciatingly made contact to his cheek making his face wobble due to the impact.
And just like that, everything went back to its normal pace.

Gawking at the sight join by Brian's friends.

"Don't tell me what to do 'BRAT'!. And pick your own size and group to pick-on!"

She then walked towards the cafeteria, but the abruptly stopped. Looking over hear shoulder, she then warned the rest.

"If I see or hear you keep on bullying kids, i'll make sure to add a punch or two on your face."

She then disappeared like a great superhero in an awesome movie.

Until now, i am still in awe how strong and confident she was in defending me.

After that day, I was never shoved to the wall, they neve made fun of me and I've gained friendsin a shor period of time.

I was hoping in seeing her again in the cafeteria to personally thank her. Every failed attempt in seeing her is also another wasted sandwich, well not really wasted since i still eat it on the way home, that i have made especially for her.

I've always prepared my favorite kind of sandwich, Lady's Choice Sandwich Spread with crushed Jack&Jill's Mr.Chips paired with FunChum my favorite orange flavored juice, for the special occasion. And Thanking her for savin me is definitely a special occasion.

I've overheard from my schoolmates that the kid was suspended. I decided to ask my teacher about it but wa told that they cannot disclose any information about the matter.

I waited...

And waited...

An waited...

But she never came back.

Upset is not the exact words to describe how I felt when my teacher confirmed that she was not coming back. She can't tell me the exact reason why sh left but sh confirmed that it was not because of the incident.

As a kid, it is somewhat strange for my parents to see me rather sleep than read a book and study.

Dreams made sure I see her everyday.

Dreams helped me remember every detail of her face.

Dreams made sure I get to thank her for standing up against Brian.
But they were all just dreams, i reminded myself.

Months passed, i decided that I've had enough of being contented in just seeing her in my dreams.

Tightening the straps of my Spiderman back pack, i walked towards my mum to help me find her.
