~Anthony's POV~
Being with these two Alpha's gave me a certain sense of security I'd been longing for so long, and had never gotten from my parents. But no one knew that, and no one would. Especially not these strangers who I'd just met a few minutes ago. I diligently showed them around the campus, keeping up my duty as their "GPS", as Elijah called me. By the time we'd gotten to our homeroom class, it was clear Benjamin and Elijah were already going to be steadfast friends. They seemed to complete each other, give each other something to hold onto.
Per usual, I was alone. Again.
Not that they ignored me. In fact, just the opposite happened. They quizzed me on almost everything and anything. Like the school's history, all the way to my family tree. And, I found myself subconsciously opening up to them. And I tried not to panic, but I seemed to fail when Benjamin turned away from her conversation on anime with Elijah, to me.
"Hey Anthony, you haven't said anything at all so far. I would have pegged you to be the kind of person to burst out on the illogical stuff in anime," he said with a chuckle. I smiled apologetically. "Just lost in my own thoughts, I guess." He raised an eyebrow, and I internally cursed myself for being more obvious with them than I'd been with anyone since I was little.
"Ant, you don't have to be secretive with us. We'd really like to get to know you. I mean, you are the only one that knows us that's been here for at least a year. Shed a little light on the situation!" I stiffened a bit, and Benjamin smacked Elijah with her water bottle. "Ow!" Elijah rubbed her head and turned to get Benjamin back when Benjamin dodged him and went to my other side. I didn't realize it at first, just rolling my eyes. "You two are so immature. Anyway, back to your other, more appropriate question, Eli. I am not being secretive," I said, knowing I was lying to them and to myself, "I am lost in thought. Nothing more, nothing less." Benjamin placed a hand on my shoulder, his head thrown back in laughter, and that's when it hit me.
They're on both sides of you. I turned to look at everyone, anyone surrounding us and found they were looking with a curious expression, as the two Alphas were emitting a protective scent. I quietly panicked as the two continued on debating about their anime topics, and led them to homeroom.
I sat in my usual seat at the front of the class, knowing fully well I had an empty seat both behind and next to me. I mentally kicked myself. This is what you get when you want to be isolated, and now look what happened...
~Elijah's POV~
We walked into homeroom and immediately, Anthony's scent changed. I opened my mouth to say something when Anthony slid over to his desk. Benjamin and I looked at each other and shrugged. We took the empty seats around him, me sitting in the empty seat behind him.
I watched as Benjamin struck up a quiet conversation with Anthony, who's scent once again changed, from super nervous, too calm and quiet. I quietly sighed. I wish I could have that effect on someone. Instead of butting into their conversation, I just sat back, reviewing whatever notes I could find from my last school.
By the time Anthony and Benjamin finished their conversation, the teacher was walking in, and the bell had rung. Her relaxing chamomile scent confused but relaxed me. "Good morning class!" she chirped, and a few half-hearted "Morning"s came out. She giggled, and I somewhat tensed. Not another giggler. As that thought ran through my head, Benjamin eyes turned to me. Are you okay? he mouthed. I shrugged in return, and he gave me that sympathetic look and turned back around.
~Benjamin's POV~
Elijah's scent was on-edge right after the teacher laughed, and I turned around to check if he was okay, and all hd did was shrug. I'll have to ask him about that later.
"So, I'm looking at my roster, and it seems like we have two new students in class today!" She smiled widely and turned towards Elijah and I. "Would you two like to come up and introduce yourselves? It's not often that we get new students in the middle of the year," she chirped, and I smiled awkwardly back. "Umm..." I looked at Elijah for help and found her shrugging and bewildered as well. Sighing, I got up. "Sure," I muttered, turning so the class could see and hear me.
~Anthony's POV~
"Hi. My name is Benjamin Dawson. I'm 17, the eldest of two, the youngest being my little brother, Alexander," he spoke, her voice not quivering once. A little brother? I didn't know that... I resolved to ask him a bit about Alexander later. "I'm an Alpha, and, yeah," he finished, settling back down in his seat. I gave him a tentative smile and his spirits seemed to rise again. Elijah rose behind me and turned towards the class.
"Hi. I'm Elijah Revends. I'm 17, no siblings. I'm also an Alpha," he smiled nervously in our direction and Benjamin gave him a wide smile and a thumbs up as he sat back down in her seat. "Lovely! Well, I'm Mrs. Reed, and I'll be your homeroom teacher this year!" As she finished, the speaker buzzed and morning announcements saved her from another one of her awkward spiels.
"Good morning students!"
