We soon entered the factory, it being extremely warm inside. "Just place your coats anywhere." Mr. Wonka said, throwing his coat onto the floor. I took Charlie's coat and neatly placed it with mine in a corner, as there were no coat hangers. "Mr. Wonka, it sure is warm in here." Mr. Teavee said, pulling at his shirt collar. "What? Oh yeah, I have to keep it warm in here because of my workers. They just can't stand the cold." Mr. Wonka answered.
"Who are the workers?" Charlie asked. "All in good time," Mr. Wonka smiled. "Now." We started walking again before Violet randomly hugged him. He gasped before stopping walking. "Mr. Wonka, I'm Violet Beauregard," She smiled up at him. "Oh? I don't care," He said and continued walking. I bit back a laugh as I stayed behind Charlie. "Well, you should care. Because I'm the kid that's gonna win the special prize at the end," She stated matter-of-factly. "Well you do seem confident. And confidence is key," Mr. Wonka said. I'm actually surprised that he didn't destroy her confidence. Violet then looked back at her mother, who nodded in approval.
Then Veruca stood in front of Mr. Wonka, who gasped again at her sight. "I'm Veruca Salt. It's very nice to meet you sir," She curtsied. "I always thought a veruca was a wart that you get on the bottom of your foot. Haha," Mr. Wonka then laughed. The reaction of Veruca made me burst out laughing. She then glared at me along with her father. But Mr. Wonka turned to wink at me. Wait, did he wink at me? That's when Augustus stepped in front of Veruca. "I'm Augustus Gloop. I love your chocolate," He said while in fact eating a Wonka bar.
"I can see that," Mr. Wonka said with a hint of disgust in his tone. "So do I. I never expected to have so much in common." That comment made me smile. He never destroyed a kid's confidence. He then took a step before turning around. "And you're Mike Teavee. You're the little devil who cracked the system," He said before turning towards Charlie. "And you, well you're just lucky to be here aren't you?" That thing about him never destroying confidence, yeah I was wrong. Mr. Wonka looked at the rest of us. "And the rest of you must be their p- pa- p-"
"Parents?" Mr. Salt finished for him. "Yeah that. Moms and dads. ...Dad? ..Papa?" Mr. Wonka looked at the ground, seemingly going into a trance. Charlie and I looked at each other before looking back at Mr. Wonka. He then snapped out of it before looking at me. "Aren't you a little young to be... one of those?" Mr. Wonka asked. "Oh gosh no. I'm his sister. Not his mother," I nervously laughed. "Alright then. Well let's get a move on," Mr. Wonka said. We started walking as the kids started talking to one another. Augustus had just offered his candy bar to Charlie. Then being a little shithead and took it back.
I then 'accidentally' tripped him, causing him to fall on his face. I smirked before wrapping my arm around Charlie's shoulder as we followed Mr. Wonka until we got to the end of the hall way. We all were crouched so we could fit. "An important room, this. The most important in the whole factory," Mr. Wonka told us. "Then why is the door so small?" Mike sneered. "To keep all the big, chocolaty flavor inside," Mr. Wonka answered. He then turned the key and slowly pushed the doors open to reveal the most massive room I've ever seen. There was even a chocolate waterfall.
"Now careful dear children. Don't lose your heads. Stay very calm," Mr. Wonka said, getting progressively slower. "It's beautiful," Charlie said. "What?" Mr. Wonka said, looking at Charlie before looking at me. "Oh yeah, very beautiful," He said. I blushed a bit, before realising that Mrs. Beauregard thought that Mr. Wonka was talking about her. I silently laughed at her ignorance. He goes onto talk about the waterfall and how it makes the chocolate light and frothy. We then follow him across the bridge as this huge pipe sucks up the chocolate in the river. "People. This pipe sucks up the chocolate. And carries it away, all over the factory," He informed us. And then he goes on to tell us that we can eat that grass.
"You can eat the grass?" Charlie asks with starstruck eyes. "Yeah. Everything in this room is edible. Even I'm edible. But that my dear children is called cannibalism and is frowned upon in most societies," Mr. Wonka joked. I laughed as everyone stood there staring at him. "Off you go," Mr. Wonka clarifies. "Can I go Alex?" Charlie looks at me. "Go on kiddo. I'll be right here," I smiled as he ran off. "You're not going to eat?" Mr. Wonka said, suddenly standing right behind me. I gasped before answering him, "Oh no thank you. I'm not that hungry. I'm just glad that Charlie will have a chance to eat."
"You look like you're starved," He looked me up and down. "I appreciate you worrying about me Mr. Wonka, but I assure you that I'm fine," I gave him a warm smile. As if trying to prove me wrong, my stomach growled. "Ah ha! You are hungry," He said before grabbing my hand. "Mr. Wonka, please-" I tried to say before he cut me off. "Ah ah, please. Call me Willy," He said. "W-what?" I blushed. "And your name is?" He looked back at me as we got to a liquorice tree. "Alex," I responded. "That's boring. I'm calling you Lexi," He said before handing me a large piece of cherry liquorice. "Thank you Mr. Won-" "Uh uh," He corrected me. "Thank you Willy," I smiled at him. He smiled back.
