Threat noun

1a statement of an intention to inflict pain, injury, damage, or other hostile action on someone in retribution for something done or not done.

I didn't even wait until I was stopped at a red light to start my phone calls to my father. It rang for about seven and went straight to voicemail for the other six. Getting worried I resorted to a drastic measure - calling my younger sister and pulling her into this.

"Blake?" She had a guarded tone to her voice. "Something wrong?"

"No nothing's wrong," That was the truth for the moment. "Why would you ask that?"

"Well it's like eleven here so I know it's about two in the morning over there."

"So."

"Soooo, you barely call at all - let alone at such a random time of the night. Something's up."

"Cass, nothing is up but me right now. It's a long drive and I figured I had a chance to talk to you. Is that so bad?"

She hesistated. "I guess not?"

"Good so what are you up to. Since you're up so late on a school night."

"Homework. Apparently Mrs. Tousey thinks it's good to assign the Juniors a research paper with two weeks left." I could just imagine her rolling her eyes. "She's such a bitch."

"I'm sure. Is dad by any chance around?"

"No. He had something to attend to earlier." The sarcasm rung to her voice. She was always annoyed with his travel schedule and being alone.

"Define earlier."

"I dunno' like seven or eight this morning."

My foot jammed on the brakes causing me to jerk forward. "And he's still not back?!"

"Calm down," She laughed. "He had a 'hot' date with that nice little blonde girl."

"Blonde girl?" My face contorted. "What blonde girl?"

"The one that used to wrestle, the one that was banging Clooney."

"Ohhh," I said as the realization dawned on me.

"Yeahhhh. He's safe and sound, don't worry." She assured as I exhaled a breath that I felt like I'd been holding forever. "You sound stressed. Is there a reason he shouldn't be?"

"No." I shook my head. "I just wanted to talk to him that's all.."

"Oh alright," She said slowly, unsure. "I don't believe you but your word is all I've got."

"Of course it is. I'll have to talk to you later."

"Wait, what about the long drive? I can stay up a few hours if that's what you're worried about."

"No need, I'll call you later." I hung up and threw my head back on the head rest. Now at least, my worries had been put down maybe I could continue this road trip in peace.

I had my foot on the gas to go forward but was interrupted by my phone beginning to vibrate in my hand. Glancing at the screen, I saw it was a message from my dad.

'With my pretty little lady friend tonight! Don't disturb me LOL' Attached was a selfie he'd took with Ms. Keibler herself, both of them smiling big.

Laughing, I began to reply when another message came in. Another picture too. At first I couldn't make out what it was exactly. A truck of some sort - a range rover actually - in a woodsy like area. There was a traffic light ahead and some girl sitting inside.
