Chapter 2•
*Isabelle's POV*
I laid in bed, feeling sick and depressed. Alec. Alec. His name kept rolling around in my brain. Of course, 'mom' did too but not as much. After all, my mom was only around for a little while and even then she didn't talk much to her kids. Max had died, so now I had no siblings. No one to comfort me. Not even Jace, for he had his own family; Clary. Dad was there but he did the same as me. He wallowed up in self-pity and cried all day. I couldn't even knock on his door to talk anymore; I had my own place now. A place that would have been shared with Alec.
Suddenly, I heard the doorbell ring.
Getting up groggily, while also throwing on a sweatshirt that was pink, I walked down the steps and heard the ringing again. "Coming, coming!" I said.
I opened the tan wooden door and found Clary, to my surprise, standing on the porch.
"Can I come in?"
I nodded numbly and held the door open for her to come in. As soon as I shut the door with a low hollow bang, she collapsed into my arms and we both knew it was time to cry our eyes away.
*Clary's POV*
"I'm so sorry," I said to Isabelle, my voice muffled by her sweatshirt. Weird. She usually wore elaborate, fancy clothes, mostly dressed that would have made any regular girl look slutty but not Isabelle. She had her way of making slutty clothes work.
She laughed a little, surprisingly. "For what?" She asked. "I should be saying the same thing. I heard Luke... He... Yeah,"
I blinked once as if her words had hit me, making my skin tingle. Or maybe those were the tears. "I still have Jocelyn," I said quietly but the moment I said it, I instantly regretted it. Luke shouldn't have to be replaced. He wasn't like that; Luke was persistent and he would never let me replace him. I wouldn't want to anyways.
Isabelle, I noticed, was a mess. Her long dark black hair was in a tangly mess and looked like birds could sleep in it, and despite having the pink sweatshirt, she also had on leggings. Which was weird for a girl like Isabelle, who liked to show off her legs and arms, mostly for the Marks but sometimes for the boys' stares. She had pale skin like a vampire and she looked like she hadn't slept in days, dark rings under her eyes that no amount of makeup could fix.
Isabelle scoffed. "You can't even call her 'mom,'" she said.
In regular circumstances, I would have been hurt but I knew she was going through difficult and hard times just like me. I mean, she'd lost Alec, Maryse, and Magnus. Not to mention Max.
Clary laughed feebly. "Well I haven't seen Jocel- I mean, my mom- In weeks. Losing Luke made the both of us... wrecks,"
Isabelle frowned. "You know what we need?" She asked me in a mischievous voice, slightly tinged by sadness. I gave her a questioning look. Oh no. What was she up to? I wondered. Isabelle smiled. "A girls' night out. We can invite Maia and Jocelyn," she shrugged. "Maybe even Simon, except he's not a girl,"
I contemplated the idea. Isabelle sure had her way of drinking off her problems but I wasn't a big drinker or partier, for that matter. Finally, I decided, "Okay. But no boys. I mean it! I mean, all of us girls have guys- well, except for my mom- and we can't cheat on them,"
Isabelle sighed and looked pained.
"Seriously, Isabelle." I said. "You have to make commitment. Simon won't stay around if you're not loyal to him,"
She smiled. "Fine. But we're still on for girls' night, right?" she asked in a hopeful tone. I couldn't help but laugh. Oh, Isabelle. Where there was a party involved, she would be there.

Hey, guys! I know there's probably not a lot of readers yet but I wanted to check in to see if there was, because I won't continue to write this if no one is reading.
So, comment, share, vote, whatever.
Thanks!
