Pirates of the Caribbean: Heart of the Gauntlet

Chapter 6

Ezra and Sabine were stuck with the three captains as they had some sorting out to do. They gave a brief summary on how they wound up on the island, how they lost Saw and what they were doing. They said that they were looking for the mythic case that held the key to sinking one of the worst ships in history. However, they were attacked by some Spaniards near Cuba, which was how they lost Saw. After more sailing they came across the island and saw it was inhabited. They thought they could easily conquer them, but before they knew it, the crew was captured and Kanan and Hera were somehow made leaders of them.

It cleared a bit of what questions they had, but their next one was where they were going.

"We are going," said Kanan, "to see him."

"We know that," said Ezra, "but who's 'him'?"

"He calls himself," said Zeb, "The One In The Middle."

A few moments later, they heard Rex shout that the island was in sight. The captains, Ezra, Sabine, Saw, Rex, and Vizago all went onto the Pilgrim to see him. They sailed through the brook that was inside the island; after a while, they came to a mansion that looked like it had been abandoned for several decades, if not centuries. They walked through the front door into darkness. A few steps later, the doors slammed shut, and a booming voice filled the entry.

"Why have you come here," it asked, " pirates?"

"Is that any way to greet some old friends?" Kanan asked.

A torch was then sighted near the ceiling. The light spilled in to reveal a man in elegant attire. He descended down the single staircase and just stared silently at the group. Silence filled the room.

"What do you need?" he asked.

"We need to know how to find... Its heart." said Hera.

"Ah, haaaaaaa. Finding that will be no good without knowing how to open it."

"Ok," Zeb said, "then just show us what the key looks like so we can hunt it down."

"It cannot be opened by a key," he replied, "it is locked by a secret code."

"Sorry to interrupt," said Sabine, "but what is it."

A few moments went by before Kanan responded, "The Heart of the Gauntlet."

"In order to obtain the code," the man replied, "someone must steal it from her captain."

There was a tense silence that clung onto the room.

"Why do you seek it?" he asked.

"Well," said Hera, "One in the Middle--"

"Call me Bendu," he interrupted.

"Well, Bendu," she continued, "it's a bit of a personal interest."

Bendu then noticed their hands. He asked them to show their palms to him. Hesitantly, they showed them. Bendu's eyes widened. Saw, Rex, and Vizago all scurried nearer to the door. They all three had the Black Spot.

"The cosmos," he said, waving his torch in a circular manor, "will guide you to where you can find him."

The flames formed a map. Amongst the ocean was a small group of outcropped rocks. They returned to the Ghost.
