Keith Neil's POV.
I lean back in my soft chair, in my bedroom. Well, to be precise it can't be called a bedroom as it doesn't contain a bed, it's more like a small cottage. Containing, one of my actual bedroom, second this for entertaining guests, third my office where I actually work, if not in meeting room with rest of my people and a room for freshening and bath. I live in a big and luxurious palace but this four rooms are my haven as I am left alone without any bother over here. I sigh as I wait for my minister or should I say my close friend. It's surprising how a person from other half of the world can get so close to you and think almost the same. We just met about a 98 years ago. What? We are immortals.
I still remember how I was named mad when I left my family to go to the adventure to Amazon forest with about 500 people from all over the world. Only 101 of us could survive till we became immortal. I was very passive and not the leader back then, but with time and all the difficulties we faced, it somehow lead to me being a leader and hence now the King of Immortals. Okay, I admit, I planned all this. I was the one who killed the former leader but that was a must for me to be where I am today.
But when we reached there and were about to get endless powers, we met Donatekoman, he was the chief guard of the immortal potion and we had to surrender to his conditions so we reach the Donateko potion or to be precise the potion of Immortality. The conditions were-
1. The Immortals will come to have mates, within themselves.
2. The Immortals will never multiply, they will only be added, once in every 100 years, they will be increased. Meaning every couple will have exactly 2 children, a boy and a girl and then the couple will have no more children. These kids will grow up, meet their mates which will be within the Immortal Kingdom, marry and wait for another 100 years till they can have kids. Thus every 100 years, the immortals will increase by 100. We don't age, so it doesn't matter. I was locked at 22, though my actual age now is 120 years.
3. Only the kids of two Immortals will be a Immortal. If a immortal procrastinate with a mortal, they won't have kids. That was the loophole, that made me the King. There were many others who wanted to be the King as king had many more powers including the magical healing but they all kept quite when it was mutually decided that a man who sacrifices having a mate will be the King. It made sense, we were 51 men in all and 50 woman. So one had to sacrifice. And I did, that made me the King.
4. The last condition was that we would never return and if we return and get caught by a mourning Donatekoman, mourning because he failed in his duty, the entire lineage, kith and kin of the person caught will be seized the Immortality.
A sigh escaped my lips as I remembered the events that had taken back almost a century ago. Now the time had come. From command of 100 people with endless powers, it is going to be 200. A smirk settled on my lips as I heard the door crack. Xiao, entered and sat in my opposite chair which was a rocking one. My smirk widened as I observed his defeated expression. He has been late all his life and even now, he is late, and I know the reason all to well, his mate, Xaio. "Okay man, stop it. I accept defeat, I can never be on time."
I let out a laugh and enquired him about the meeting, where this time I expect, even all woman to be present. I am going to train them for the next two years on how to bring up, the next generation. All of us belong from different parts of the world. It was with great difficulty that, in the last 98 years I have managed to bring uniformity and peace between different thoughts and beliefs. I had trained them in different professions, so we are self sufficient in nature, except for servants, for which we hire poor mortals. But as they say, it is impossible to vanish what you have been thought as a child, though it's been years we aren't completely harmonious. For instance, Xiao and Xaio, they both speak among themselves in their own language. I don't want this to pass on in next generation. As much as appealing diversity may sound, I don't exactly favour it, we need to be one. He informs me about all the arrangements being done and then we have a small talk and I disperse him.
I enter my office and again see the paper works and sigh. It's all done, I just need to train my people now but what perplexes me is the thought of having a child of my own. My mate.... I shake my head as such thoughts enter my mind. I should be rather focusing on the Ist PA ever, that is Population addition. But my mind again drifts back to think what would it be like, if I actually had a mate. It's not only for the physical pleasure part of it because I always have mortal slaves at my beck and call, but the Companionship. The Care. The dependence. I shake my head to get rid of impossible expectations fed in my head and rather focus on work in hand as I reread my entire grooming or if you may call parenting plans.
