veneer (part 3)

"Y/n!! hurry up babes- we're meeting Kate and Sarah in like, five minutes!!" Y/n's roomate Cheryl pounded her fists on the bathroom door.

"alright alright!!" Y/n grumbled, lathering lavander scented shower gel over her skin. "jeez"

Cheryl checked her hair in the slightly steamed up mirror, using her hands to wipe a clear window for her to see her own reflection- as her hand moved to make way for a mirror image of herself however, she was only met with the ghoulish image of a rotting corpse staring back at her from the mirror.

Y/n jumped in the shower when she heard Cheryl's scream, the lights flickered and the girl's bathroom descended into darkness for about half a minute before they came back on.

Y/n had backed up cautiously against the cold tile walls, the only sound aside from her now sharpened breathing was the sound of shower water gushing over her. She'd watched enough horror movies to know not to drop her guard when screams and flashing lights come together.

That's never a fun combination- unless you're at a rock concert.

"Cheryl?" She called out warily, hoping to god that she was alright. She was already bracing herself to face what unimaginably gruesome fate had befallen upon her best friend. "are you okay? why did you scream?"

"im just peachy y/n~" Cheryl's voice bounced back at y/n chirpily. "i just, thought i saw a spider."

"oh" y/n let out an audible exhale, feeling the suspense and tension escape her body. "phew"

"are YOU okay y/n?" Cheryl's voice sounded closer now. "you're taking an awful long time in there maybe i should come in and help you"

Y/n blushed and nearly knocked over all the bottled toiletries.

 "what!? NO!!  okay okay, I'm coming out." she wrapped herself in her towel and joined her friend, who served her a suggestive smirk-which y/n assumed was just jestful teasing. "stOPPP haha" she grabbed her clothes and got dressed before they headed to their dorm. 

Kate and Sarah had already let themselves in, they sat on the two single beds that were now pushed together.

 The four students sat in a circle together, Cheryl picking up a couple of the cups of sangria that Kate had brought over and passed one to y/n, who was helping herself to one of the cookies that Sarah provided. 

"yes, lets get girls night star-ted!!" Kate did a small dancing motion with her arms. 

"So- who's ready for truth or dare?" Sarah beamed.

Y/n got comfortable in her spot on the bed, excited for a night of games and gossiping with the girls. 

Cheryl scooched closer to Y/n, grinning in anticipation.
