(howdy everyone~ This is a klance genderbend fanfiction and my first one ever! Please feel free to leave constructive criticism down in the comment section below.)

Keria Kogane had never expected her first day of college to be so... Odd. Of course she had known she wouldn't be accustomed to how college worked, but she had't known it would be anything close to this. The morning had started off pretty normal for her, she got up, took a shower, got dressed, ate breakfast, said goodbye to her cat, and left. All in all not much of a change from her schedule when she was in highschool, but now she was in a small apartment near her college. Originally, Keira wanted to live on campus, but their dorm rooms didn't allow pets of any sort. A ridiculous rule in her opinion, so she simply picked a cozy *cough*CRAMPED*cough* apartment only about a 6 minute walk away from campus. The trek was a bit annoying to take so early in the morning, but it was worth it if she could keep Red with her. She had gotten the small red abyssinian cat about a year ago, just when she started looking at colleges. Her foster parents had been livid at first, but she calmed them down by explaining she would pay for all the cat's needs with her own money, and besides, she would be moving out very soon, after she found out which college she was going to. It seemed the universe had been in her favor for once, because not even a week later she got a scholarship offer from Voltron College, one of the most prestigious in the nation. They had courses for almost anything you could think of, from teaching majors to psychology majors to mechanics majors, which is what Keria was going for, robotics. She had never really cared much for school, the only classes she had ever really liked were Welding, Tech Ed, and Science. With a huff, she ran a hand through her raven locks. She had actually gone the extra mile to actually look decent today. Her shoulder length black hair was brushed to perfection, her blue-gray eyes were outlined with plain black eyeliner, and her round lips were adorned with light pink lipstick. Her outfit had a long way to go however, her trademark red jacket with a white collar and sleeve cuffs and a yellow streak through it over a plain dark gray t-shirt, torn up black skinny jeans and black boots with red bottoms and tops. Heck, a guy could wear this outfit a still look good. (*WINK WONK*) Despite the very short walk, her leather satchel felt like it was about to rip her right shoulder if she didn't get to class very, very soon. She stepped onto campus and took a moment to admire the giant picture of their school mascot that was painted on the floor of the courtyard. A giant multicolored robot, man whoever had decided on this school's mascot had been a huge nerd. Keira made her way to her first class, Introduction to Basic Computer Science. The second she stepped in the classroom she was struck by how large it was. Rows upon rows upon rows of seats filled the room, the teacher's desk sat empty at the front of classroom and most the seats were empty as well. She glanced over the rows, scanning for someone friendly-looking to sit with. A girl... wait no...maybe it was a guy? Well a kid with light brown hair in a ponytail over their shoulder was hunched over a laptop and was typing away, their brown eyes had heavy bags underneath them and they wore a plain baggy green sweatshirt and jeans. Keira made her way over to the kid and plopped down next to them. The kid jumped a little and turned to look at her.

"Gah! Oh uhh.. Hi?" The kid looked her up and down as if confused by the existence of another person.

"Hey, my name's Keira, Keira Kogane. What's yours?" she hoped that the kid's name would clear up their gender. Keira had to admit her curiosity was piqued.

"I'm Pidge, Pidge Gunderson" they fiddled with their ponytail subconsciously. Well that was of no help. Pidge was a gender neutral name. Keira peeked over their shoulder.

"Watcha workin on there?" she asked

"Oh... Promise not to tell anyone?" A wicked grin spread over their face. Keira simply nodded. "I'm hacking into the school security system" Pidge whispered, she swore she detected a hint of pride in their voice.

"Cool, why?" Keira whispered back.

"Cause why not" Pidge snickered.

"Good point" Keira grinned. Well look at that, lil ol "antisocial emo Keira" had made a friend on the first day of college. Take that you god awful high-school bullies! A loud incoherent screaming noise interrupted Keira's train of thought and she almost fell out of her seat.

"Sweet merciful mothman what the heck was that?!" Keira yelped as she tried to pull herself out of the awkward position that she found herself suspended in.

"Mothman?" Pidge snorted loudly and covered their mouth "it's just my text tone" they pulled out their phone and started tapping on it. Keira finally pulled herself back into her seat.

"Why on earth is our text tone a banshee shrieking?" She brushed her hair out of her eyes.

"It's not a banshee, it's my friend Hollie Garrett (it's Hunk if y'all didn't get that), another friend and I pranked her once and we recorded her reaction" Pidge chuckled "It was great!"

Keira found herself laughing along with Pidge, a large dopey grin on her face. Maybe college wouldn't be as bad as all the adults said it would be, if most people were anything like Pidge college would be a breeze in the social department. Pidge turned to look Keira full in the eyes, their expression was dead serious.

"You wanna see pictures of my cat?"

"God yes!!"

The next hour or so was filled of pictures of Pidge's cat. Her name was Green and she was a Scottish Fold. Slowly, more people filtered into the classroom and the rows started to fill up. Pidge pointed out certain people that they knew and talking about them. The professor finally walked in after everyone seemed to be there. He dropped his things on his desk and turn to face the class. He had red hair a wonderful mustache.

"Hello everyone" he addressed the class "My name is Professor Coran and I'll be your teacher until you stop taking this class" he smiled energetically and gazed around the room"Now, is everyone he-"

He was cut off as the classroom door slammed open and a literal goddess walked in. Keira's jaw was the floor. She has smooth toffee colored skin and brown hair tied back in a ponytail. She wore plain blue skinny jeans, gray converse and a tight white crop top that had some logo on it. Her blue eyes glittered with mischief and a pair of aviator shades rested on her head. It was cloudy out so it wasn't necessary but eh, it made the looks work. Keira was completely starstruck until the girl opened her mouth.

"Hellooooooooooo ladies!~"
