Anne Brimmley was once again sat studying in the coffee shop close to her university. An intelligent yet introverted girl, she was in the 3rd year of her architecture course and was enjoying her studies, however, she did not have that many friends at university due to her guarded nature. She was well liked by everyone she met, but she had issues holding onto potential friendships and needed someone to bring her personality out. She was working on her latest designs, A plethora of well constructed and meticulously thought out pieces which would be more than suitable to placate any high-end building. She was lost in her work like any dedicated student when suddenly her focus was interrupted by an unkown man.
"Hey, do you mind if I sit here? All the other seats are taken" he said chirpily pointing to the seat next to her. Anne was tentative, she very much came to this coffee shop to avoid interaction with people, but her polite nature shone through:
"Hey, no of course not! Feel free!" she said with a sincere smile. She could be very personable but she just needed to find the confidence to release her more sociable side.
"Thanks!" he replied smiling. The man sat down next to her and gulped his coffee while checking through his phone. Anne did her best to try and get back to her work, however, she felt constricted and claustophobic having noticed the amount of people in the coffee shop when she had been brought back to earth by the man's enquiry. She didn't want to feel like this, she was personable, friendly and bubbly, but her lack of confidence prevented this side from coming out and she was desperate to unleash it. She couldn't concentrate and rather than waste her time silently sipping coffee, she took a chance and engaged in conversation with this man.
"I'm Anne by the way! Nice to meet you!" she said perhaps slightly overzealously, leaving her hand out for a shake.
The man laughed and shook her hand. "I'm Ethan!" he said happily.
"Interacting with another human in London, you're brave!" Ethan exclaimed. Anne couldn't help but laugh, she'd known this guy for a mere 5 minutes and he'd already put her at ease with his big laugh and happy demeanour. Nobody she'd met before had made her feel comfortable so quickly, she was eneamoured with him already.
"You're a funny guy, obviously!" Anne said mockingly.
"I try my best!" he retorted, accompanied by a laugh of course. Anne wanted to get to know Ethan better and it seemed that the feeling was mutual:
"So what do you do for a living?" queried Ethan.
"Well actually I'm a student at Queen Mary in my third year. I'm studying architecture and I'm enjoying it a lot! What do you do?" replied Anne curiously.
"That's amazing! Once you're done I'll have to get you to design my next flat!" replied Ethan cheerily. "I know this is quite weird but I'm actually a Youtuber."
Anne laughed, "so when are you getting a real job?" she joked with a wry smile.
Ethan laughed "How very original! If you don't believe me, search for 'Behzinga' on Youtube!"
Anne searched for Ethan's internet alias and found his profile, she was shocked to see that he had over 2 and a half million subscribers. "Wow! You've hit the big time!" she laughed, "over 2.5 million subscribers, not what I expected to say the least!"
"I can't believe you doubted me!" said Ethan with humurous faux outrage. "Yeah I'm amazed to this day I've got that many, I feel very grateful to be in a position where I do this for my job."
Anne looked at Ethan's disstracks and laughed watching them: "At least you tried mate!" She exclaimed laughing.
"I'd like to see you do better! Spit some bars for me then!" replied Ethan.
Anne thought carefully and then unleashed her rhyme:
"I'm A to the B and this how I roll. Got beef with me, kiss my A double S HOOOOOOOOOOOOOLLLLLLLLLLEEEEEEE!" Ethan collapsed into a heap laughing, he was completely taken aback by Anne's rap skills.
"I'm actually dying! Well done madame!" said Ethan in fits of laughter
Anne was impressed, flattered and surprised. Here she had a humble, sweet and happy guy who obviously loved what he did, yet, he didn't let the fame get to him. they chatted more and it turned out they shared numerous interests, both of them found common ground on many personal issues. The conversation topics were broad and varied and Ethan and Anne found a lot to discuss. After a lot of talking, Anne snapped back to reality:
"Oh my god we've been here for 4 hours!" said Anne checking her watch. "I need to get home and prepare my work for tomorrow!"
Ethan sighed. "That's a shame, I was having such a nice time with you Anne! Can we do this again?" He asked hopefully
Anne did not need to think in asnwering: "Of course! I'm in uni tomorrow for a lecture at 1 so I'll defintely be around! Meet you here at 3.30?"
"Sounds good to me!" He said jovily.
They exchanged goodbyes and went their seperate ways. Anne got back to preparing her work but all she had on her mind was Ethan. He had made her show the social side of her that she wished she carried with her throughout all her social interactions. She did not feel stressed around him, in fact she was completely relaxed, he made her feel at ease. For next few months, Anne met Ethan for a coffee most days every week. They laughed and got to know each toher better, Ethan introducing Anne to the world of Youtube and to his friends, the Sidemen who all very mcuh enjoyed her company and loved having her in videos. Then after a good time of gettign to know each other, Anne was caught of guard with a question:
"Anne, I've really enjoyed your company for the past few months and I only want to get to know you better. If I don't ask you this now, I'll never say it and I don't want to live with regrets. Anne, will you go on a date with me?"
Anne was shocked. She'd never really had much of a love life, apart from a short lived fling a couple of years back that never really went anywhere. She was hesistant. She wasn't sure if it was the right time for her, but she knew she liked Ethan a lot, his personality heavily resonated with her and he made her feel happy. Anne needed to build up her courage to reply and she found it:
"I'd love to Ethan, I can't express how much I've enjoyed spending time with you the last few months. You're a fantastic person."
Ethan blushed and exclaimed "Great! Honestly, I'll take you to a nice restaurant, we'll do things in a classy way!"
"That sounds like something right up my street" replied Anne with a beaming smile.
Anne had been brought out of her shell. Her evolution to a social butterfly had completed, all thanks to Ethan and his laugh.
