Chapter 8: Hotel Mistory

After the movie was over the boys returned to their hotel room. When Chris put his hand on the doorknob it shifted downwards and the door opened. Chris pulled a gun out of an inside jacket pocket. Hector and Nate did the same. Then Chris pushed the door open all the way. The three entered the hotel room slowly and with caution. Nate closed the door quietly behind them. "Did you remember leaving the lights on?" Hector asked. "No, I turned off the lights as we left the room" Nate replied. "Where's the room key, Hector?" Chris asked.

"I have it right here," Hector said pulling a card out his back pocket. "Do you have yours with you, Nate?" Chris continued. "Right here," he said pulling it out a  jacket pocket. "If mine is in my back pocket,  so why was the door open?" Chris asked. "why are only Mat's things gone" Hector added. Nate stands in silents for a while before speaking. "Mabey.." he stated. Before he could say anything a knock at the door interrupted him. 

Nate opened the door. "Jullie what's wrong?" Chris asked. "Zoe's gone" she replied. "What do you mean gone?" Nate asked. "The last thing Zoe said was he's still alive I know it," she told them. "What are Chelsea and Jessica doing?" Hector asked. "They didn't want to start looking for her without you she replied. "Tell them to get dressed we leave in five minutes," Chris told her. So Jullie went back to her room to tell Chelsea and Jessica what Chris said.  Five minutes later the girls were waiting in the hallway.

"Do you think Mat is still alive?" Nate asked. "I don't know" Hector replied. "Let's go," Chris said as he opened the room door. The girls were in the hall waiting for them. Together the seven teens started their search for Zoe.  "First place we should look is the theme park," Chelsea said. "Where was Mat last seen?" Chris asked. "The mountain" Julie replied. "Guaranteed that's where she'll be," Hector told them. 

Meanwhile, Zoe was trying to make it up the mountain. She got trapped in a heavy blizzard. Frozen and chilled to the bone she trudged onward. The Icy wind stabbed her flesh like frozen metals.  The farther up the mountain she went the worse and more painful it felt. "Mat" she called out. But there was no answer. The mountain began to shake. A large avalanche raced towards her. "What would Mat do in this situation?" she thought to herself. "He'd climb a tree," she told herself. Zoe found the nearest tree and rushed towards it.  

She climbed near the top of the tree. The snow slammed against the tree. The tree swayed back and forth. The wind stung her skin. By the time the avalanche was over the bottom half of the tree was under the snow. By this time Zoe's body was numb. Meanwhile, the others had to postpone their search because of the avalanche. "we half to keep going" Chelsea said. "It's too dangerous, we have to turn back," Chris said.  "We can't" Jullie protested. "I want to find her too" Nate started. "What if another avalanche happens then what?" Jessica added. "Ya'll go I'll go with Chelsea and Jullie" Hector volunteered. 

 "Fine but be careful, and call if you find her" Nate instructed. "I will" Hector replied. Nate, Chris, and Jessica returned to the hotel while Hector, Chelsea, and Jullie went after Zoe. Hector suggested that they take the ski lifts to avoid walking in the snow. Jullie and Chelsea both nodded in agreement. While they're on the lifts Chelsea noticed something in the snow below them. "What was that?!" she said. "What?" Jullie asked. "I saw something in the snow," she told them. "Where?!" Hector asked looking down "I saw it by a tree," Chelsea told them. When the sky lift stopped they got off. 

Chelsea led Hector and Jullie to where she saw the object. "It was right around here," she said looking around. "Is that it?" Jullie said pointing to a figure in the snow. They slowly approach the figure. Jullie's eyes widened. "It's Zoe!!!" she said. Hector runs over and checks for a pulse. "She's still alive" he started. Her skin is completely frozen" he pointed out. "Jullie called Chris and tells him we found Zoe," he told her. "How are we going to get her and ourselves down the mountain?" Chelsea asked. "anyone order a sled," Hector said. "There's a rope tied to it," Chelsea told them. 

'I let Chris know we found Zoe" Jullie told Hector. Hector picked up Zoe and cared her over to the sled. He had to clear the snow out before placing her inside. Chelsea and Jullie got in next. Chelsea sat in front of Zoe while Jullie and Hector sat behind her. It didn't take long for them to get down the mountain. When they got to bottom Chris and Jessica were waiting for them. "Chris help me get Zoe inside," Hector said. "Sure" Chris replied. Together Chris and Hector cared Zoe into the   Hotel. When they got up to the girls' room they rapped every blanket they had around her. 

Nate brought blankets from their room as well. Zoe let out a sneeze Jullie called for room service. "Room service" an employ answered. "Can we get some hot chocolate sent to room 188?" she asked. "Yes ma'am" the employ replied. A few minutes later someone knocked on the door. "Room service," a voice said. Jullie opened the door "thank you" she said. Right before Jullie closed the door Chris stood up. "Wait... I have a question" he told the employ. "Ask away" she replied. "What Happened to Matthew Parker's stuff?" he asked. "Oh, Mr. Parker" she started. "He told us should anything happen to him, hold on to his things until the trip's over. she replied.
