Petra's POV
"Tell the one about Skull Rock again, I like that one!" Gil said excitedly, leaning forward in the wooden chair sitting outside the cell. I sighed and ran a hand through my hair, glancing over at Ben every now and then. We'd been trapped on the Lost Revenge for what seems like hours now, but we couldn't see outside the ship so there was no real way of knowing. The ship was quiet for a few hours, so I assumed it was night then. But now the deck above us was bustling with people, probably preparing for whatever Uma had planned for us. Gil was keeping constant watch on us, and I decided to let Ben sleep while I distracted the dim witted pirate. Gil, having found out my mother was none other then Wendy Darling, had me telling stories all about my adventures in Neverland. It reminded me of when I first came to Auradon Prep and Audrey, the preppy daughter of Aurora, compared my mother's story telling abilities to my own. I for one don't believe I inherited the skill, but Gil seemed to think otherwise.
I looked off into the distance and opened my arms, ready to make a grand opening for my story. "So, there I was on Skull Rock." I began. "The lost boys and I had found where the lost treasure was hidden. We split up to search for the riches. Suddenly, I heard my friend Slightly scream." Gil gasped, even though he knew what was going to happen next. "I flew deeper into the caverns in search of my friend. Time was of the essence, he was clearly in trouble. When I found him, he was face to face with this giant creature I call the Neverbeast." Gil's eyes widened. "What did you do?" He asked in awe. I smirked and continued my story. "Well you see Gil, I happened to have a friend who knew quite a bit about this creature. She's a fairy, you see. So with her help I was able to drive the creature away with one hand behind my back. After that Slightly revealed why the beast was after him; it was guarding the lost treasure! Deeper inside the cavern was a massive pile of gold and other riches. And that is the story of how I singlehandedly tamed the Neverbeast."
Gil clapped his hands in applause, seemingly thrilled about the story I've told him 3 times already. "And what did you do with the treasure?" He asked. I shrugged. "We hid it again so that we could go on another treasure hunt for it later." This was logic that wouldn't make sense to most, but made perfect sense to Gil's empty head. "Ok, ok, tell another one!"
Just as I was about to answer, the door at the top of the stairs opened with a bang. At the amount of times that door has slammed open I'm surprised it hadn't broken by now. Ben woke with a start and Gil nearly fell out of his chair. Our guest was none other then Harry Hook, who seemed to be carrying what looked like rope. I felt a pit form in my stomach. If it was one thing I despised, it was being tied up. At least in this cell I could move around, but being tied up would mean I would be completely helpless.
"Congratulations, you two are getting an upgrade!" Harry said, walking over to the cell door and unlocking it with the key attached to his belt. "Uma wants to see you both on deck." Ben stood up and made his way towards me. He looked wide awake, and it didn't surprise me considering the circumstances. "Sounds like more of a downgrade to me." I replied, eyeing the rope warily. If Harry had heard me, he didn't acknowledge it. Instead he told Gil to tie up Ben and stated he would do me. I wanted to put up a fight, but I knew that would show I was scared, and I wasn't about give Harry the satisfaction of seeing that. Instead I planted my feet firmly on the ground as Harry roughly tied my wrists behind my back. "Don't try anything." He muttered into my ear as we followed Gil and Ben up the stairs. The King got the privilege of going first I guess. "No promises." I replied, keeping my gaze straight ahead as I walked on deck of the Lost Revenge.
I was unconscious when I boarded the Lost Revenge earlier, so this was my first time actually getting a look at the ship. She was a bit worse for wear, but I could tell that in her prime she must have been a beauty. Pirates were rushing about, either cleaning or sparring or whatever else pirates do. The sun was shining and almost directly above us, which meant it was almost noon. Almost time for the big trade deal Uma's been planning.
Harry and Gil tied Ben and I up yet again, except this time to one of the masts of the ship. Ben was on one side, I was on the other. We couldn't see each other. I couldn't even move, the ropes were so tight. I couldn't do anything, I felt so useless.
I heard what sounded like Harry speaking to Ben, and I immediately felt bad for my royal friend. I couldn't make out what was being said, but I doubted it was anything good. Suddenly, I saw something glittering out of the corner of my eye. I didn't want to look suspicious, so I didn't stare directly at it. But the thing looked tiny, almost the size of a large bug. There's only one thing, or rather person, that I could think of that fit that description. But that's impossible. She couldn't have gotten here that fast could she?
The thing kept moving around until suddenly, it flew directly towards me and seemingly nested into my mane of red hair. "Petra, it's me!" I heard whispering in my ear. Sure enough, it was Tay. So she had gotten the message, perfect. "I can't untie you or I'll get caught. Carlos and the VKs are on their way though, so don't worry. We've got a plan." I subtly nodded, gesturing I'd heard her without drawing attention to myself. I heard Tay sigh. "I'm so sorry about all of this, but it'll be over soon. We'll bust you out of this joint in no time." Then just as quick as she had came, Tay was gone without a trace.
I was snapped out of my daze by a metal object, a hook, slamming into the wooden mast inches from my face. Harry was looking me up and down, as if he was searching for something. "I know you, don't I?" He finally said. I raised an eyebrow at him. "I don't know, I think I'd remember meeting a scum bag like you." I retorted. Harry quickly put his hook to my throat and I held my breath as to keep as still as possible. But the next moment Harry smirked and let out a hardy laugh, stepping away from me. That boy changed his mind so often I could hardly keep track. "You're just as fiery as your hair, Ms Pan." He said. "If Uma didn't want you alive I would have hooked you ages ago." I scoffed and rolled my eyes. "Ooh, I'm practically shaking." I spat. "You don't scare me, Hook. You can scamper around in your dark eyeliner and your scary sword all you want, but that's not going to make you any more intimidating."
Harry's smug smile slowly shrank with every word I spoke. I wondered if he was so cocky because nobody had ever stood up to him before. I know I grew to be much more humble after Foxglove called me out on all my faults a few months ago. When I finished, Harry shook his head at me almost as if he was giving me a warning. Then he sauntered off without another word.
When I saw Harry out of sight, I tried to struggle out of my bonds even though I knew it was a lost cause. Not only was I bound to the mast, my wrists were still tied together as well. As much as I hated to admit it, it was out of my hands. The only people who could save me now was my boyfriend and his friends.
I was left alone for a moment, looking out at the Isle with nothing but my thoughts to keep me company. Until I once again got a visitor, Uma. I didn't even bother looking at her at first, but she began speaking anyways. "You're a strange one, Ginger. You know that?" She said, putting her hands on her hips. I decided to meet her gaze. "In comparison to what?" I asked. Uma shrugged. "The heroes I've met." I cocked my head to the side and shrugged the best I could in these ropes. "Well not all us heroes are the same. If we were we wouldn't be special would we?"
Uma raised her eyebrows, as if she was impressed with my answer. "So poetic." She said. "But if you're not all the same tell me this. Why would King Ben promise to bring more Villain Children to Auradon and instead let you and your little hero friends go instead?" She paused and took a step forward. "Was it all planned, Ginger? You wanted to give us a glimmer of hope and then snatch it away just for the fun of it?"
So this is what Dizzy was talking about earlier when she said the people of the Isle were upset with the Neverland kids. They could have came to Auradon for a better life and we, I, took their place. When Dizzy had told me that earlier it hadn't hit me quite as hard, but it sure was now.
"If we had known that more Villain Kids could have came to Auradon instead of us we would have-" "Don't lie to me!" Uma shouted abruptly. "You couldn't have cared less about us! And if I have the pleasure of throwing you to the sharks today-" she paused and grabbed me by the collar of my shirt, pulling me closer to her. "I won't care less about you."
"Uma!" A pirate in the crow's nest above us shouted. Uma sighed and shoved me away, looking up at him. "What is it?" She snarled. But the pirate's response cheered her up immediately. "Mal and her crew are heading this way!" Uma smirked and looked back down at me. "It's your time to shine." She said, then turned to Harry and Gil on the other side of the deck. "Gil, grab the king. Harry, get the girl. And don't forget the anchor!" I snapped my head in Uma's direction. "Anchor?" I asked. Uma's smirk grew even wider. "Well we can't have you flying off, can we?"
As Uma walked away I began struggling at my ropes even more. They were tying me to an anchor? That would mean that not only will I be too weighed down to even think about escaping, but if I ended up falling (or getting pushed) into the water I would sink like a rock. As Harry cut the ropes holding both Ben and I to the mast, Gil hauled the anchor across the deck. He definitely inherited his father's strength. Harry pushed me down to my knees so that I was at the same height as the anchor and began tying me with a strange knot to the metal object. "Scared yet?" He asked. I scoffed and began to attempt to lift the anchor to off the ground. "Not likely." I replied.
Harry had drawn his sword and pointed it at my back, expecting me to follow Gil and Ben towards the plank. Of course Harry wasn't going to help me, but I managed to stand to my feet after much struggling. The anchor must have been twice, maybe even triple my weight and it seemed to get heavier as I slowly made my way towards the plank. The pirates laughed at me every time I fell, which was many, many times. But eventually I had hauled myself onto the plank behind Ben. "Oh, by the way! Tell your mom that Gaston said hi, and that my dad wishes he had finished off your dad when he had the chance!" That was the last I heard from Gil before he ran off to find Uma. Ben didn't look too pleased with the message he was given. Harry on the other hand was left in charge of keeping us on the plank, so we were stuck with his company longer then I wanted.
Then, like a shot out of the blue I heard the two words that I'd been waiting to hear ever since I got stuck on this hunk of wood.
"They're here!"
