"Wake up, Amber!" Riri shouted in my ears as I jolted awake with a start. "What the hell, Riri?" I mumbled as I took in my surroundings and remembered where I was. We had had a sleepover at Riri's barn. Me, Jennifer, Nancy and Riri. The four of us had been friends for four years. Jennifer was over at the window, showing Nancy her new ring. It had been given to her by Nick, her boyfriend. I walked over to them and we talked for a while before I noticed Riri on the phone, looking very worried. "What's wrong, Riri?" I asked her. "Mum and Dad have not yet come home and they are not answering their phones," Riri looked very worried. That was really weird. Mr and Mrs Warren had gone out in the night and had said that they would be back by 2am. "Don't worry, their car just probably broke down," I comforted her as I switched on the television in the room. Bright lights and the cry of 'Breaking News' caught my attention. But I wasn't really listening to the person talking. I was looking at the figures in the background. Figures with sickly green, sagging skin and bulging eyes almost hanging out of the sockets. 'Zombies' kept rebounding in my head as my eyes widened in shock and jaw dropped.
Holy shit.
