Jun woke up to the sound of his cell phone going off. He cracked one eye open, his blurry vision clearing as he was slowly waking up, he reached his arm out of the sheets, his arm becoming cold as he silenced his alarm. He groaned, as he never a morning person. He threw his blanket off and swung his legs over the side of the bed and stared at the wall in front of him. Jun had a simple room, plain white walls, and dark wooden flooring.
His queen sized bed had dark blue and black bedding and a white teddy bear. There was a single light brown nightstand with a small lamp and a picture of him and his mother. A light brown desk was in the right corner of the room. A black computer and a few pictures and anime figures sat on the desk. On the left side of the room was a worn down dark blue bean bag chair in front of a mounted flat-screen TV.
Jun sat up and shuffled to the bathroom that was connected to the room. He walked into the white and grey bathroom and wiped his eyes as he walked over to the mirror, looking at his half-asleep self. His short black hair was messy, and his right sky blue eye and his bright yellow left one were still half closed. "당신은 깨어 났니?" (Are you awake?) His father yelled from downstairs, he was probably in the kitchen making breakfast, like most mornings. "예, 아버지." (Yes father.) Jun screamed back.
He started his routine that he did every morning, brushing his teeth, washing his face, the normal. He walked out and walked over to his dresser next to the door, he threw on a pair of black skinny jeans and an oversized white and red band T-shirt with a pair of white converse. Groggily, he opened the door and stepped out into the hallway.
Jun jogged down the stairs two at a time. The smell of a fresh pot of coffee and omelets filled his nose, giving him the motivation to walk faster. "아침 아버지." (Morning Father.) Jun said sleepily as he walked past the living room and into the kitchen. "아침, 어떻게 자셨습니까?" (Morning, how did you sleep?") His father asked, his father had the same black hair but it was pulled back into a short ponytail in the back. He wore a pressed black and white suit with a red necktie that was neatly folded into the suit.
Sipping his coffee and doing his crossword puzzle was his daily morning routine. Jun walked over to the freshly made coffee and poured himself a cup. "나쁘지 않아." (Not too bad.) Jun sipped his coffee and grabbed himself the plate of bacon and an omelet that sat next to the stove. His father hummed in understanding and continued with his crossword puzzle. Jun sat across from him and ate silently while watching the news that was on the TV in the living room.
Jun soon finished, standing up he walked over to the sink and set the plate inside. He blinked and walked toward the living room. He grabbed his bookbag that was resting against the grey couches and threw it over his shoulder. "좋아, 나 떠날거야." (Ok, I'm leaving.) He opened the front door and stepped out, feeling the cool air brush against his pale skin. "있다 안전한." (Be safe.) Jun nodded in response and closed the door behind him.
The cool crisp air whipped around him as he hurriedly ran down the stairs leading away from the condos and into the streets of Chicago. The streets were busy with life. The roads were slammed with traffic, from the busy sidewalks you could hear the horns honking and people screaming here and there about how late they would be.
Jun found vehicles somewhat, annoying. He hated how loud they were, how much they cost, the gas, and how you could barely drive without hitting some kind of traffic. Jun always just thought it was safer and faster to ride a bike, skateboard or even just walk, even if the streets were slammed with people walking, it was still more enjoyable. He took his phone out of his pocket and put one earbud in. He scrolled around in his music, found a song and tapped on it. He continued walking to school and hummed to the song until he felt a slap on the back of the head.
"Mornin' Jun, Whatcha listening to?" He popped the earbud out and stuck it in his own ear and smirked. Gross. Jun ripped the earbud from his ear and sent a quick glare to his friend before sticking his phone back in his pocket. "Eminem really? I didn't even know you listened to him. Never really seeing you as the type." He said smirking, looking down at my band T-shirt. "저리가, 내버려둬." (Go away, leave me alone.) He rolled his eyes. "I love how you talk to me thinking I know Korean." Jun sighed and closed his eyes. "I said leave me alone Dean. You always bother me first thing in the morning. I honestly don't understand how you have so much energy."
Jun looked up tiredly at him. He wore his usual red and black Nike hoodie that was slightly tight on his fit physic, paired with a pair of red basketball shorts, and black sneakers. His hazel green eyes looked at Jun playfully, and his short light brown hair was shifting gracefully in the wind. "Guess I'm just a morning person, unlike a certain Korean, I happen to know." Jun rolled his eyes, it was true but he didn't want to give Dean the satisfaction of being right. So he simply walked ahead and plugged both of his earbuds in and played his music. "Hey man, that's not fair!" Dean ran up to him and started annoying him till they got to school.
