Jun and Dean pushed through the crowd of people that blocked the entrence of the school. It was slightly too early to go in yet, so all the students sat outside. Jun looked over at all the new faces, most of them looked like Freshman.
People were talking to their friends, some in groups and others standing by quietly waiting for the school to open. "Hey Jun, have you seen that new episode of Steven Universe? Dude, I swear it's awesome! Connie and Steven fused! Like you know how the gems fuse? That's exactly how it was. What was the name again? I think it was Stevanie, (Is that how you spell it?) yeah that was what it was. Hey, are you listening to me?"
He stopped in front of Jun, preventing him from walking away as he stared down annoyingly at the shorter male. "Do you want the truth, or do you want me to tell you a lie to make yourself feel better?"
Jun looked up at him bored, he never watched TV and Dean knew that, he just liked listening to his own voice. Jun thought TV was boring, the only thing he really watched was the news in the morning while he ate and anime on his laptop. He thought reading was a lot more fun, he loved imagining himself in the book, how detailed everything was, but what he enjoyed most about reading was picturing everything in his mind.
Jun looked around lazily, while Dean was still rambling about whatever show he watches. 'Oh no. Please don't be him. Please..' His eyes widened in shock as his eyes laid upon a tall muscular boy a few feet away from him.
Marco Tristion, aka his old middle school 'bully' as most people called him. He never really hit Jun or anything, but he would make fun of him whenever he could. He scared Jun. Whenever he came up to him or if he just happens to walk in his line of sight he would walk over with his evil smirk, and he would pick on Jun for about anything, His hairstyle, his clothing choices, that he was half Korean, anything really. But what would really get him going is Jun's strange eyes.
Every day it was about something and then his eyes. His strange blue and yellow eyes. It bothered Jun, he never hated his eyes before he met Marco, he actually liked having different eye colors, everyone thought they were pretty, unique even. His mother loved his eyes more than anything before she disappeared.
She would always tell him how beautiful his eyes were and that he should be proud of them. All that changed when Marco stumbled into his life. And now a few feet away he stood talking to some people, his friends probably. Jun stood there frozen in place, his eyes wide and his palms sweaty. Why was he so afraid? This happened 3 years ago. He shouldn't be as afraid as he was now, he shouldn't be scared at all. But he was.
"Jun you okay dude? What are you staring at?" Jun stood in place, he wanted to speak but the words never came out, they couldn't. 'Please don't look at him, please Dean.' The world hated him. Jun never knew what he did wrong, but it was something. "Marco? Is that you? Hey!" Marco turned around and his face immediately brightened. He smiled and started jogging toward us. "Dean, is that you? God, it's been what, 3 years?" Jun turned toward Dean and started silently praying not to say anything stupid.
"Yeah man, it's been awhile, how ya been?" They fist-bumped and started catching up. Jun found this as the perfect opportunity to slip away. He silently tip-toed away from them until he heard, "Jun what are you doing? Get over here and say Hi." 'Dang it, why does life hate me?' Jun sighed and shuffled toward them 'You'll be fine, just say Hi and he'll leave you alone and talk to Dean. As soon as the doors open you can leave.' Jun looked up at Marco through his bangs. "H-hi Marco." He said nervously.
Dean looked at Jun confused. "Jun you ok-" The bell rang and the doors opened up. Jun took the opportunity and ran. He could hear Dean scream at him from behind, but he didn't care, he continued to push through people until he got inside. He slipped into the building and stood in a corner catching his breath. "Everyone please go to the library to get your locker information and your schedules. Hope we have a great year!"
Jun looked up and sighed, he should probably think before he acts. Dean will find him sooner or later and ask him what his deal was. He looked around at all the old and new faces as he walked to the library. There were a lot more people then there was last year, that much Jun could see.
He walked slightly farther and reached the large open double doors. He peeked inside and saw more people gather inside and grab their things. He decided he should do the same and walked in. He walked over to the large round white tables that had packets scattered around. He looked over at the J group. He scanned the table and found his name.
He picked up the packet 'Jun Caverly'. He opened the packet and looked over all the papers. His first period was pre-calculus. His least favorite subject. Great. The locker was close to the one he had last year so that was a plus at least, and his combination was pretty easy to remember.
He nodded to himself and went to go find his locker. He ended up having his locker only 5 lockers down from what his was last year. He put in the combination and it popped open easily. He put his backpack down in front of him and started throwing books inside his locker, not even bothering to organize it.
He left his math notebook in his bag and closed it after he was done. He threw his bag on and lazily pushed through the hallways leading to his pre-calculus class. After about a minute or so he was walking in his classroom. The room was mostly filled up except a few seats were empty. Jun decided to be safe and take a seat in the second to the last row considering all the seat in the back were taken.
He opened his bag and threw his notebook on his desk, he then closed his bag and set it on the floor next to his chair. "Alright everyone, settle down! Class will begin shortly so please grab your supplies and sit down." Jun sighed again and leaned into the chair closing his eyes and taking a deep breath. "Hey, is it ok if I sit here?" Jun opened his eyes and looked over at the seat next to him. A small looking girl stood in front of him. She had big bright green eyes and silky long black hair with a purple tint to it that was braided on the sides and pulled into a loose ponytail. She also had a couple of ear piercings.
"Uh yeah sure, I don't mind." He gave her a small smile and threw his head back to look up at the slightly cracked white ceiling. "I'm Lucile, and you?" Jun looked back at the girl and nodded in understanding. "Nice to meet you, Lucile, I'm Jun." She turned to look about to say something but she quickly shut her mouth. "Y-your eyes." Jun froze.
He should be used to this by now, his entire life people have questioned his strange eyes. It's not like this is the first time it's happened. But still, every time someone said something about his eyes he silently prayed he wouldn't be made fun of. "They're so pretty." Jun's head shot up to look at her. His eyes widened even more if that was even possible. "R-really?" She nodded and smiled. "Alright everyone, quiet. It's time to start class!"
