                                              Chapter Four

"Another reason?" I say, my mind suddenly filled with curiosity in a split second. "What would that be?"

Jill shifts her weight from one foot to the other and looks away, "Because there's this thing, it's just a simple job to do, really, but... I just really need someone else to do it."

I arch my eyebrow and ask her, "What is this thing?"

"Well," Jill walks away from me, fiddling with her fingers, as if she was nervous or afraid of what she was going to tell me, " You see, my brother, Jackson, I think you know him already," Of course I did. The popular heartthrob from the senior high, known for his handsome features, taking from his father. The Roberts family has always been an attractive one. I guess good beauty runs in their veins. Too bad it doesn't run in ours. I took from my mother's, with my short height, small eyes and always messy hair. If I were to name any part of me that I'd think good, I'd probably say my blue eyes. They're small, but at least they're really blue, like a very icy kind of blue.

Jill turns back to me, making me return my attention to her, "So, anyway, Jackson kind of messed up, not returning a school project and all. And this project is, like, a really big deal for him because...it-it just is. And Jackson forgot to pass this project. It was due yesterday but then Jackson didn't have enough time to make it since his partner was doing just nothing and his tests has been doubling from the last two weeks. Late projects aren't accepted. All projects are kept in school. "

I nod my head. "So what, exactly, is my part here?"

"Jackson's grounded because he accidentally scratched dad's car."

"But I thought he had his own car."

"Yeah, well, that one is kinda broken too. Last last week's party at the lake, remember?" I nod my head. I do remember. I didn't attend the party but news spread quickly at school, and any news about Jackson and Jillian, especially about Jackson's car drowned in cold lake water, spread faster.

"So, I guess you know where this is going now." I think I did. But I didn't reply. I don't think I'm going to like what's going to happen at all.
