If I Could

I'd walk for miles if I knew you'd let me

I'd find the money to take a bus if I didn't hate public transportation

I'd take a plane if I didn't have an irrational fear of crashing

I'd travel for weeks if I knew I had a big enough suitcase

I'd write a million letters to you if I had decent penmanship

Hell, I'd swim across the Atlantic just to know you were safe

I'd rent a car if I actually knew how to drive

I'd sign up for some stupid T.V. show just to possibly travel closer to you

But instead I'll sit at him awaiting your safe return

Because I can't drive

And the Atlantic is too wide

My penmanship sucks

And my suitcase only has so much room

I've nicknamed planes 'tin metal death traps'

You'll never catch me on a bus unless my life depended on it

Because I know that no matter how hard I tried you'd never let me walk every mile

So I'll sit on a park bench somewhere

Hoping and praying for your safe return

And that someday

You'll be sitting there with me
