(I wrote this for a very close friend of mine. You know who you are <3)
There's this beautiful girl I know
But her story has a twist
Her paintbrush is a razor
And her canvas is her wrist
She feels she isn't good enough
Like she's never going to fit in
She's bullied at school and pushed around
Repeatedly putting face to ground
But her wrist has always been her canvas
Her razor remains her paintbrush
And as captivating as her smile is
There's no way I can convince her that there is a happy ending
There's no way that I can convince her that she's beautiful
There's no words that I can say to change her mind
Or make it go away
The only thing that I can do
Is give her things to help her smile and get through
But through all the YouTube links and stupid little stories
Through all the compliments and kind words
I never see her getting better
Hell, I barely see her at all
I just want to hug her and tell her it's all okay
I want to hold her close as she cries herself to sleep
I want to comfort her after school and tell it's all going to be okay
But Georgia is a long ways away
So for now I'll make her smile as much as I can
Even if it's fake and the light has left her eyes
Because she's the beautiful girl I'll always know
Even if her story has a twist
