The stone

After I grabbed my stuff I walked back up to my room. I started unpacking. When I opened the closet to put what little remained of my clothes. A greenish blue stone fell out from the top. I was startled and raised my arm reflexively. The stone hit my wrist and instead of bouncing off it sunk into my wrist. "ARGH!" I shouted. It was like a parasite dug into my skin and spread roots in my wrist. Then it stopped hurting. I looked at my wrist and the stone looked like the center of a bracelet it sunk in enough that it looked like a greenish blue circle with silver bands on the top, middle, and bottom on with the circle on top of the bands. While I was recovering my parents burst into the room.

"What happened?" shouted my mom out of breath. She must have ran all the way up here from the kitchen. My dad was like wise out of breath. I looked at both of them. Mt mind racing for an excuse.

"I thought I saw a spider. Sorry to worry you." I said forcing a smile.

My parents let out a sigh, "You scared us don't scream like that just for a spider. We thought something bad happened to you." reprimanded my mom.

"Okay I'll try to remember that," I replied. My mom looked me over. Her eyes fell on my right wrist. She marched over and grabbed my arm and held it up.

"When did you get this tattoo?" She questioned and ran her finger over it, "Oh my goodness Harold I think this is permanent."

"What?" asked my dad. I yanked my hand back.

"It's nothing. I've had it for awhile," I said not looking my parents in the eye. I couldn't very well tell them that it just appeared after a strange stone fell on me. My parents looked at each other.  My mother shook her head. My stomach did a flip I don't like to disappoint my parents, but it wasn't my fault it was that stupid stone.

"We'll talk about this after dinner," sighed my mom and she walked out of the room. My dad gave me a pat on the shoulder and followed after my mom.

I sighed and put my head in my hands. "What now?" I went over and sat on the be, "There's no point in worrying now" I told myself and got up to finish unpacking.

                                                                                        ********

Close to 7 o'clock mom called us down for dinner. I walked down the stairs into the dinning room area and sat down at the table. Dinner was ate in silence. Even my sister could feel the atmosphere was tense. I mean I bet everyone was tired. After dinner my mom asked, "Arrow can you help me with the dishes?"

I looked at my dad and sister. My sister didn't really care and left for her room. Dad looked at me helplessly and left the dinning room. I sighed and shouted, "Okay mom coming!" I picked up the plates, silverware and glasses and brought then to the kitchen. My mom was at the sink washing a pot out. I walked over slowly and set the dishes in my hands in the sink and started rinsing the plates.

There was a moment of awkward silence while we were washing the dishes then my mom sighed, "Why?"

I looked over at her, "What?" I asked.

She stopped washing the dishes and looked at me, " Why did you get a tattoo without informing me or your dad?"

"It kind of just happened," I responded looking away from her and back at the dishes and resumed washing.

"I wish you would have told us," said my mom solemnly, "I'm not mad or disappointed that you got one. It's the fact that you didn't ask and instead of telling us you hid it from us. Granted I wouldn't have let you get one until you turned eighteen," said my mom.

"Sorry mom," I said looking down.

My mom sighed, "you're grounded this week, no going out late, after school you come right back home."

"Okay mom," I said.  We did the rest of the dishes in silence. After that I went up to my room and collapsed onto the bed exhausted. Then my phone rang I lazily looked at my phone on the nightstand next to the bed. When I saw that it was Luke I sat up and grabbed my phone and immediately answered : Hello?

Luke: Hey man you okay?

Yeah no  serious injuries. How did your baseball game go? I would have went like the others, but you know the accident happened.

Luke:  I get it man wish you were there instead of in that accident maybe if you were we could have won;)

Yeah watching a baseball game sounds better then almost burning alive. It's too bad you lost, but how could I have changed anything I don't play?

Luke: Heh maybe you would have been a good luck charm because it was the last inning  we had a man on first and second. We had two outs and were only down by one run. If we just got a hit we could have gotten the guy on third home, but the batter hit the ball to the in field and it looked like it was going to be caught, but the guy missed. The guy on third and second took off, but then the guy running home tripped and  that bad luck allowed the person to get our guy to get out because he couldn't go back to third since the guy on second went to third and if he ran back to second he could have gotten out. It was just bad luck that the guy on third tripped and fell.

Man I wish I could have been there. good luck charm or not it sounds like it was a fierce game.

Luke: Yeah it was I played really well today. I had a blast.

Hah you would have had a blast even if you weren't  playing at a hundred and ten percent. You love the game.

Luke: Yeah I guess you're right. You know me too well, but are you sure you're okay?

I sighed: Honestly I'm a little shaken. I could have died today.

Luke:... I don't know what to say except hang in there. Time will heal and hey I'm here for you.

Thanks man. It's getting late and we have school tomorrow.

Luke: You're still planning to go tomorrow? No one would blame you for taking a day off.

Of course I don't want to miss things and get more homework when I get back. As I said that I suddenly remembered the homework assignment that was due tomorrow. Ahh Crap!

Luke: What! What happened!

I forgot about my homework Mrs. Q is going to eat me alive tomorrow.

Luke: you scared me there I thought something bad happened again I'm-

This is bad worse than bad. If only I had gotten burnt just a little then I could finish my homework.

Luke: Dude don't joke like that.

Yeah sorry, but she'll kill me tomorrow. Now I really need to go and finish my homework fast, goodnight Luke

Luke: Night

I quickly ended the call and went to the online assignment we were supposed to do and quickly went through it. Luckily it was easy. After I finished I sighed. I looked at the clock. It read 11:11PM. I decided to read a web comic on my phone. At 12:00 I turned off the lights to go to sleep. As I was about to fall asleep I felt a piercing gaze like I was a defenseless prey in front of a predator. I looked out the window and there staring back at me were two yellow eyes.
