"You broke my promise"

-

*Sarah's POV*

-Flashback-

I clearly don't understand why most girls still fell head over heels for him. Like come on. Can't you girls see he's a douche? He's not even that good-looking either. Most guys even dreamt of being like him. Basically, we have the 'most popular guy' in school. His name was Marcus.

It was only the first year of high school and 'he' became one of my classmates. He was the first to be noticed by everyone. Except me. I knew him only few days after when girls started squealing or trying to be under his pants. Yes, in classroom. Their voices were enough.

I get it, he was a sweet talker and his words can make your heart flutter or even bring as many butterflies into your stomach. Ugh, disgusting.

Like have you ever experienced a scenario where you're the only person that just doesn't understand why this specific guy was loved by almost everyone? That's me. You're probably be thinking why I'm exaggerating over something that's not necessary. Obviously there's a reason. I can't hate him for nothing. I hate him because he hates me too. Why? I don't know and I don't care. Probably because I'm the only who doesn't adore him.

Just kidding. I'm not that shallow. I just didn't like the way he spoke his first words to me. Was pretty rude.

"Can you do your job properly?" And that was how we first communicate with each other. Through my first presentation and he was the first to comment. I was so humiliated. I could literally feel my face burning. Was my presentation really that bad to him? Well, couldn't care less. So I answered him.

"Same goes for you and your grades," and people started 'ooooo-ing'. Guess he was pretty embarrassed. I mean it was true. He really needed to improve his grades. That was months ago and I never spoke to him again.

He only spoke to other girls and guys which made me realised that I was the only person he never spoke to. You're probably thinking I'm jealous or something. Not really though. I knew he was a douche who broke many hearts and girls still fall for him in stupidity.

I actually forgotten about him though since we never talked for nine months straight. For reals. I know we're classmates but I had my ways to avoid him. Or so I thought.

Remember I said he had bad grades. Guess whose help he needed since exams were coming up.

"Please love?"

I hit him.

"Don't call me love and since when you wanted MY help?" I highlighted the word 'my' just to sound clearer to him what I meant.

"Please. Just this once. And cause, I actually never talked to you for a very long time. I'm sure you miss me," he smirked and I hit him again.

"No and no. I miss us not talking more. So go away," I pushed him off and left. What an idiot. Is this his way of getting my attention now? Like I would fall for his 'spell'.

As I reached home from home, my phone buzzed and an unknown number appeared. What I read was a disappointment.

M: Heyyy Sarah. It's me, Marcus. Plz, I desperately needed your tutor. Ur the top student in our class no? U can't just decline a student who needs help. Plzzz, if not I'll do anything :') i owe u one ever since that presention incident. im sorry..

Ps. I got your number from our teacher

Oh my lord. He just wouldn't stop, would he? I feel so uncomfortable with him now. It'll be harder now to say no. He even apologised. And especially since our teacher, Mr Peng, knew about us. Marcus could have told him the reason why he needed my number. Sigh, guess I got no other choice.
