Chapter 8

"Wha- you're- what?"

"Yes i'm you" the person told me

"Wait no, this isn't possible"

"It is, otherwise how would i be here?" they scoffed

"This is a dream"

"Oh please"

The brute snarled at us, i stared at it and what was left of the regalia. I nearly threw up.

"Shit, we need to go"

"But who are-"

"NOW!" they shouted at me.

They got a smooth black rectangular box, that was the size of an mp3. They pressed a button on the top and a red circle of light shone out of it. They directed the light towards the wall and the wall started crumbling away in the shape of a circle, big enough for one person to fit through.

The dog slowly walked towards us, blood dripping from its teeth. It then plunged towards me quickly. It missed my leg by a centimeter.

They climbed through the circle then pulled me through after them. They pressed the button and the wall remade itself.

"Ok, so you're me??"

"I'm you from the future, right now we're in my basement"

"But we don't have a basement? And we definitley are not Bishamon's neighbors" I said

"We're 10 years into the future. Future you lives here now... yes where Bishamon used to live"

"Why did you come to save me then?"

"I literally just explained this to you"

I rolled my eyes at future me's bluntness, scanning her basement.

"Okay" she relented

"You were drugged and made to take part in this program where everything you love is stripped from you. Although its all virtual, so thats why i'm telling you that Yukine didn't die, and Yato isn't evil. Hell, even ' Shinu ' isn't real.

This experiment was to test peoples resolve when put into this kind of situation. But off course many didn't want to take part.

There were big protests against this experiment, and you were the leader of this movement. When you were protesting one day someone grabbed you, knocked you out then drugged you. You were entered in the experiment." future me explained

"So if you're me, how do you know all of this?"

"Yato told me"

"So you got out of the testing alive? What's the point of saving me if you got out alive?"

"Trust me, you don't want to know" she said quietly

"Okay stay close to me, and swallow this" she handed me a pill

"A pill? Why?"

"It makes you look invisible, it hides you from the cameras and it also mutes your voice to anyone who isn't wearing one of these" she pointed at a hearing aid in her ear.

"Cameras?? Isn't this your house"

"It is my house, but security cameras are mandatory. They keep a very close eye on all of us"

"Just what kind of world is this?"

"Come on, we need to move"

I swallowed the pill dry and followed her out of the door, I climbed the stairs and future me led me into a small room.

"Yato, Yukine? You here?" she said

They both emerged from behind a sofa, my heart skipped a beat. Future me walked to Yato and hugged him, kissed him on the cheek, Yato blushed cutely.

"Yukine? Yato? I croaked"

They both smiled at me lovingly, Yukine sniffed quietly.

"Hiyori!" Yukine cried, he tried to hug me, but couldn't see me. He blundered blindly around until he gave up and sit down.

"Hey, we're gonna get you back home. " Yato said

"I'd appreciate that" I grinned happily.
