Once upon a time, there was a beautiful fairy named Fae. When she was born, her mother and father instantly knew that she would make a great ruler. When Fae was just ten years old, her mother died of an unknown illness. And because it was unknown, she couldn't be cured. Her father was now getting older, and too weak to rule. He knew that very soon, he'd pass and Fae would be the only one capable of taking on the responsibility. Every young king or queen to-be was appointed  on their 18th birthday.
On Fae's 16th birthday, her father was dying. Just before he passed, he uttered out the last words he'd ever speak.
" Fae. I've always known... you'd make a wonderful... ruler. I love... you."
"Father, no! What about the rules? I'm not 18 yet!"
His eyes slowly began to close.

                    10 years later:
   "Fae! Hey Fae! Fae!"
  "WHAT!?"
" Hi, Fae," Drake roared softly.  " You're quite an annoyance, aren't you Drake?"
"You're quite a snob." Drake blew a gust of fire with delight. " Good one," Fae said sarcastically.
" I know." Drake flared his nostrils, watching a squirrel climb up a tree.

Fae walked down the stone path and entered the palace, guards closing the doors behind her. Drake had always been this way. Everyone was like that sometimes, they have their days. But Drake was never usually this annoying!

"Guards", she said over her shoulder," send Drake to the conference room for a meeting. He must be here by 3:00."

"Of course, miss," they said in unison, as they exited the palace.

They set out to find Drake. Drake the Dragon lived in Fairy Forest, in a shack upon a small hill. They walked up the rocky path leading to his door, knocking on it together.

"One second!" The guards heard bangs and crashes, followed by several muttered curses. "Get back here you little--"

"Castle guards! Open up this instant or you will face extreme consequences," The guards dramatized.

Drake sighed and opened the door. "Uh, what are... You-you doing here? Drake stuttered, wide-eyed at the unexpected visitors.

"The queen would like you to meet her in the conference room. You will be there no later than 3:00. Understood?"

"Yes, guards, no later than 3:00," he repeated.

What have I done this time?

The guards curiously peered over Drake's wing, trying to see inside the shack. Drake caught on and shuffled quickly to the side.

"Hmph." The guards grunted in unison, turned around and walked back down the hill, leaving Fairy Forest. Drake closed the door softly and turned back to the mess behind him, glaring at the culprit. "You could have gotten me in trouble," he hissed. His pet Draco, a miniature dragon, blinked innocently at him. "You are lucky that you are cute."

Draco squeaked and shuffled to the kitchen. Drake followed, and was led to Draco's food bowl.

"Not right now, buddy. I have to get ready to meet the queen." Draco turned away from him, sulked, and fainted dramatically.

Drake sighed at Draco's attempt to guilt him into feeling upset.

He headed to his bedroom to get ready. He wanted to make a good impression for whatever inconvenience he had caused.

Finally ready, he said bye to Draco, and stepped out of his shack.

"Be good for me, and you just might get a treat," Drake said earnestly. He gave Draco one last stare, and shut the door.
