I don't know how long I had been standing there looking at him, but it was definitely long enough for him to notice.
"Are you alright?" he asks again. I quickly look down at my shoes, embarrassed from my little staring contest with myself.
"Um, yea. Sorry," I apologise. El and I have hung out with Caspian plenty of times and I know him fairly well. But it was rarely ever just him and me. Even in small situations like this. He barely ever comes down from his room when we come home, and I usually go straight to El's room. When we are alone it's usually if we watch a movie and El has to go do something or needs the toilet, but that's different because then we have the movie to focus on. Of course, I pass him in the hallway and stuff, but now he was just standing there looking at me. And oh gosh, I'm rambling to myself again."Hello, Lydia? Would you please stop zoning out on me? I kind of like it better when your mind is present and you're not staring creepily out in the air, or at me." He laughs a short little laugh, and the smile is still present on his face when the laughter dies down. I laugh with him.
"Sorry," I apologise again and grab my bag, headed for the living room. "What was it that you were asking?"
"What was all the noise, earlier?" He repeats his question.
"El just really needed a wee and fell on her way to the bathroom." My bag hits the floor beside the sofa.
"I heard my name. Are you two talking about me behind my back?" El fakes an offended look and her hand goes to her chest, over her heart.
"When don't I?" I smile smugly at her, crossing my arms across my chest. She rolls her eyes with a smile and gives my shoulder a push, wanting me to move towards the kitchen with her. Caspian starts to follow as well, but El quickly turns towards him.
"Go away Casp. Lydia and I are going to have some girl time. And that means without you, in case you didn't know."
He laughs a mocking laughter, and she laughs back. I watch their laughing contest until my mind wanders off again. Why can't Casp come into the kitchen with us? I mean what if he's hungry as well? That isn't strange, it's a necessity for all humas. Suddenly the laughter stops. Casp turns and disappears back up the stairs. "So," El starts and smiles at me. "Should I go to the toilet more often?".
"Have you seen that new kid at school?" Elodie uses her feet to push against her desk so her chair rolls over to the bed. I shake my head. "I didn't even know there was a new boy. Is he hot?" I know that it is a little bit objectifying to only talk about looks, but to be honest that is what draws most people towards each other in the beginning, right? It's a whole other story when you know the person though.
"That's my point, he is really handsome! But something just seems a bit strange about him. I mean, I'm not one to judge or anything, but I don't know, maybe I should use the word unusual, or maybe unique or special-"
"El, stop. I get the point. When was it that you saw this strange-but-handsome guy?"
Elodie glances over at her feet that was placed on the bed beside me before she shifts her gaze up towards the ceiling. "In P.E. I think." She looks thoughtful.
"And you didn't tell me?" I raise my voice, slightly disappointed. Suddenly I remember. "It was him you saw behind me when we were running," I state, but it sounded more like a question. El nods, her eyes on me, drinking in my reaction. "How does he look?" I ask.
"For starters, he's hot. He's got the most beautiful hair I have ever seen on a boy, and his eyes were shining so bright that even I could see it from, like a hundred miles away." I laugh at that. Elodie has always been the one for exaggerations.
"He has this smile that makes your knees go weak. And boy, you should have just seen his body." All the time while she is talking she has a dreamy look on her face. "And I bet he has a perfect personality to go with his perfect looks." I roll my eyes at her assumptions. Guys with both looks and personality are rare, at least in my world. But oh boy,
"I wish I had turned around."
This is very short, I know. I'm sorry but it was all I could manage. I literally have no clue where this story is going to end up anymore.
Anyways, I hope you enjoyed what little I did post.
