Johnaia
I see my mother throw a golden glowing globe in the air.
Well, well. Looks like the tests already started, this is just like my mother. I imagine she felt our senior year needed a bit of shaking up.
She probably has many plans for Tom and I that I haven't even dreamed of yet. Little does she know I have plans of my own.
Oh well I better play along or she will be in my business more than usual. I turn to look at my brother. He is wearing his stupid glamour that he knows I hate. It takes a second to find him in the crowd, so I know it must be in full effect. Somehow though because we are twins I always know where he is.
Which is something neither of us like. I know when he is up to something and he knows when im up to something.
However it has it benefits, like now. I give him a nod and we both immediately jump in the air.
He grabs my hand and spins me around then release my hand using centrifical momentum to send me flying so I'm able to intercept the orb mid air.
I flip through the air and land on my feet and hold it aloft.
As I look it over and see that it is some sort of map. Then a hundred more balls are launched in many different colors.
"Team up!", my mother shouts.
Oh so that's it.
Its important to pick well, it might be who im stuck the whole year. My brother is already standing with his friend Toriandra waving me over. I also spot Tristar standing by himself making no attempt to join a group. Hes probably thinking they are all jerks for not asking him to join, but how can they even approach him with that scowl on his face.
I actually see people walking toward me.
"Well done you seem like a strong wizard can I join your team? With you leading we are sure to win." Says a wizard in bright yellow robes. He is looking at me with admiration in his eyes.
"Ah very well" I say
"lets hurry up then we need to form up quickly if we want to be first."
"Sure in just a sec."
He turns around and waves over four more people.
"She said yes " he shouts.Great a group of randoms I have never met. So much for forming a strategic group.
We jog over to my brother who is talking to Tori and two of his nerd groupies.
"Well here we are, what's the map say" I ask tossing it to my brother. He has alway had a head for this stuff.
"Just a second Jo, is everybody here? By my calculation we need ten or more total members. So we are going to need to recruit at least one more member to form a whole team" says my brother Tom.
I glance over my shoulder at Tristar standing by himself.
We used to be friends so I felt bad seeing him standing alone at the edge of the crowd.
"No way", said Tom. "Not him no way mo how, come on pick someone else please!"
"We need another member and he needs a group. So you come on. we are wasting time." I say with conviction. We need to hurry people are starting to leave the arena.
Just then a petite shy looking girl approaches. "Hi my name is Violet, did you say you need another member?"
"Yes you see there? We have our tenth member. We're full now," he says smuggly.
"Tom, Tom, Tom. You said ten or more. I still think another person would be good for our team more brains and bodies mean more possibilities." I can't believe he thought he would slip past me he us usually smoother than that. What's he up to...
"Nice to meet you by the way violet." I say to Violet who was watching the exchange with a bemused expression.
"Nice to meet all of you I think this will be a fun year." She says quietly.
Out of nowhere we see Tristar being dragged our direction by a huge guy with a giant bow and arrow strapped across his back. He marches him right up to us.
"Could y'all use two extras?" He asks in a confident manner.
I look up into this guys face and I see surprising intelligence and understanding in his dark green eyes.
I smile. "Yes we do, my name is Jonaia, but everyone calls me jo, and you?"
"Danny" he says returning the smile.
