The therapist sits her phone down onto the mahogany coffee table and clicked the record button. She sits back up into the red arm chair which she resides in and looked across from her at her patient.
"I'm here with patient Thomas Tea. He is currently suffering from an extreme case of temporary color blindness. With most color blindness a normal person wouldn't be able to see certain colors while this patient can't see any at all. We suspect that his colorblindness has originated from a tragic accident that happened in his childhood. Now Thomas can you tell me the last time you remember seeing any color at all?"
"No." He sighs out through his nose and leans his head back onto the chair. He stares up at the white ceiling, trying to occupy his mind somewhere else."There is no point in me being here."
"Now Thomas there is no need for you to just give up. I know it's been around twelve years since you last saw any type of color at all but we believe that we can bring it back. We just have to know what in your mind is blocking it out."
Thomas's bored stare turned into a glare and he lifted his head at break neck speed. He slammed his hands down onto the table. The sound of his abuse onto the table reverberated around the room making the therapist jump up in surprise.
"There is nothing 'blocking' my ability to see color! I just can't see!" Thomas jumped up to his feet and started to make his way to the door. He grabbed the door handle and he was stopped by the voice of his therapist.
"You can't just leave in the middle of a session Thomas! Now come and sit down so we can finish....... please?"
Glancing at her from his peripheral vision all he did was scoff at her unneeded pleading.
'She is not worried about me, all she is worried about is her money. Though no matter how long our sessions are she will still get paid. It doesn't matter,' Thomas thought bitterly.
He opened the door and stomped out, slamming the door behind him. Shoving his hands into his pockets he looked around himself then walked down the corridor. He stared down at the white marble floor and his pair of vans. After a little while he stopped in front of a pair of elevators. He pushed the silver button with a picture of an arrow pointing down. As he waited for the elevator doors to open he reached into his hoodie pockets and grabbed his phone and headphones. He played his favorite soundtrack , Hollywood Undead.
When the elevator doors finally opened he stepped in and ignored the other person who was there. He pushed the first floor button and watched as the doors closed. A sneeze was heard from his elevator buddy over his music. He peaked over at the stranger from the corner of his eyes and observed the person.
The person was of the female gender. Her hair was long. He couldn't tell what color her hair or eyes were, they just came of as black and grey, but it wasn't as if he cared anyways. Currently she was wearing a long sleeved shirt with skinny jeans and a pair of converse. Thomas saw how she fiddled with the edge of her shirt and that she was a shivering.
Thomas finished up his observations and turned back to the doors. Soon enough the elevator arrived at its destined floor and the two left the elevator. Thomas went out the door and sat down on a nearby bench. Not soon after the same girl walked out of the exit and walked to the many awaiting cars. She hopped into the passenger side of a Toyota before it drove off.
Thomas stared off into the distance to see a small playground filled with kids running around and parents watching not far away. He didn't know how long he was staring in the general direction before he was broken out of his thoughts by a hand waving in front of his face.
"Hey there buddy you ready to go?"
Thomas looked up to meet eyes with his stepfather. His stepfather was a little bit shorter the he was and had short hair with a beard growing in. Thomas's nose wrinkled up as he caught a whiff of his breath. Like usual it smelled of smoke.
He noticed his stepfather looking at him expectantly and realized he was looking for an answer. He nodded his head and stood up from his sitting position. Thomas and his stepfather walked over to a pickup truck and he sat down in the passenger seat. He took off his headphones and stopped his music before putting his phone away in his pocket but kept the headphones around his neck.
"So how was the session?"
Thomas shrugged as an answer. His father let out a huff and turned on the ignition. As they started down the road an awkward silence started to befall the two.
"You know your mom is really worried. You have been blocking out everyone lately and you don't have any friends."
Thomas once again just shrugged as a reply, not really wanting to converse with his stepfather. Once again silence enveloped them and his father stopped trying to converse with him.
